Cold Morning ~ Christmas Tree Dash |
|
Decided to take the Disco3 to work this morning after sitting idle since Sunday past.. key in the ignition as normal and wait for the system to do it's thing then fired her up. Got about 500 yards down the road and the dash lit up like a christmas tree.. First Transmission Fault, then HDC Fault - Special Programs Not Available, then Suspension Lowering and to top it off the yellow park brake light came on and the warning light under the engine temp guage
Managed to get pulled in and turned everything off left for a min or 2 and fired her up again and done the rest of my journey fine
Any thoughts as to what this could be?? First thoughts are low battery charge after been left idle for a few days?
Just to add original Battery was replaced at the end of August.

Have you been doing mainly short journeys <10 miles, if so it might be the battery is not getting a full charge.
If not that, then i'm sure someone else will be along shortly I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

It could be the battery as SJR says but it does seem to be almost new...
Have you changed any brake lamp bulbs recently? 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

The last journey which was done in it was around 150 miles so should have been well charged, but this morning would have been <5 miles
Havnt checked or changed any brake light bulbs in ages!

It's likely to be the switch off your brake pedal which activates your brake lights being faulty. Mine started playing up some six weeks ago with exactly the same series of messages and warning lights. Took it to dealer then and it was put onto T4 diagnostics which said it was a software fault on steering angle sensor and had it rebooted. Anyway, it came back again and I found a thread on here regarding it suggesting it was down to fault in the brakes lights. Went over to dealer today and told them about my research and suggested lines of enquiry. It was diagnosed as being the switch ( £6 part which was not in stock unfortunately). Apparently this was sending a rogue message to DSTC and something else and leading to all the systems shutting down. Hope you get it sorted. Carwyn

Unlikely to be the battery after starting and driving, unless you hit the 'electric heated everything' buttons, lights and had low revs, more likely to be a missing comms message or brake pedal switch / failed brake & tail light lamp... The temp warning light is a strange one - and probably the key to solving the cause, maybe a loose engine earth?

having the identical fault intermittantly the last few weeks, dealer is going to look at it when he's doing the injector pump and brake system recall work
will pass on any information recieved Nine-tenths of wisdom is being wise in time.
Also appears 9/10 of stopping is stopping in time

Black betty, you say your landy is going back for recall on the injector pump and brake system. Your landy is an 05 same as mine, how did you know there was a recall? Just wondering if mine might need a recall
