how to de-activate auto wipers,
How do you de activate the auto wipers, which are way to sensitive and over eager to do their work.
my model disco 3 does not have the option on the wiper stem switch. I would prefer to use the normal dwell settings but the auto system over rides this function. Our loacl agent tells me if they cancel this function it will also switch of the auto light sensor, I'm not worried about this as I prefer manual operation any way ....any advise.

You simply move the stalk all the way down..... Up once is on Auto (or turn the dial at the end to get intermitent swipe instead)
Totally seperate from Auto lights BTW Bodsys Brake Bible

I thought you can alter the sensitivity with the dial switch. I don't touched it till now as it works perfecly on mine or for me.
I used the auto lights too during the winter as I selected the scandinavian daylight running lights in the CCf file and together with with the switch on auto I have the lighting I want. i.e. Lights during the day and turning lights when it is getting darkisch.Roel

I have the same issue they are over sensitive and they are connected in with the light sensor. They can be turned off by removing the relevant fuse in the fuse board behind the glovebox. I have run mine for some time like this but it will also disable the auto lights. From memory it is fuse 18 top middle labeled rain sensor.
Once removed the wipers function like perfectly normal ones and you can adjust the delay properly with the adjuster on the stalk.
Hope that helps.

I find the rain sensitive wipes too sensitive. I was expecting the twisty bit on the wiper stalk to change the sensitivity. I took it to the dealer......and spent an hour arguing with him that this is how it should work ! Dealer insisited the sensitivity cannot be adjusted. Very annoying ! I need to test again, but it seemed to be changing the delay on the rear wiper.

Dial just changes the delay on the rear wipe, it has nothing to do with the sensitivity of the rain sensor or any effect on the front wipers. Took me ages of fiddling before I realised this, especially as my disco manual reads differently!

10forcash, yours weren't quite working as per the manual last time! - Why would you want intermittent wipers only when the rain has subsided? On mine, when the rain stops the wipers do too - but the dial definately has no effect on the front...

This might help - I noticed last weekend that if the wipers are switched to the 'on' position, i.e. one above the intermittent, that if the rain subsides, they default to intermittent after a minute or so, obviously, this only works with rain sensor enabled wipers

Mine seem to work perfectly, but I might just be lucky as others that have tried the car find them a bit sensitive.
I'm the type that can't stand more than three drops of water on the windshield..
Also impressed with how fast they react as the car get splashed by oncoming traffic.
Only problem I find is that if I start the car with water already on the screen, the wipers don't come on until i turn them off then on again. I figured that this was a smart solution by LR so the wipers wouldn't come on if the screen is frozen by ice or is full of snow.
But as soon as I have ice or snow on the screen the wipers come on as soon as I turn the key!

Mine are not adjustable, no matter which way you twirl the knob!!! Seems this facility was introduced on later cars???
I too am fed up with this - will be pulling the fuse tomorrow as an experiment ... Regards,

Auto wipers - if operating correctly, a turn of the sensitivity dial towards the screen should initiate a wipe and increase the likelyhood of an auto wipe with fine rain.... if not, you sure you've got auto wipers?
