I bit the bullet and ordered my D4 last week:
3.0 HSE in Bournville with ebony (but might change that to Almond/Arabica, or even Ipanema, or maybe something else - SWMBO is in charge of the colour and she hasn't made up her mind yet )
Rear diff (it will get quite a bit of snow and sand action)
Sunroof (SWMBO)
Reversing camera (ditto)
Tints (the kids)
Adaptive 'cornering' headlights (heard they were good)
Tow pack (bikes, maybe tintent later)
Third row seats (for visits by the rellies)
DAB (want to keep this vehicle 10 years so trying to think ahead)
Integrated bluetooth phone (SWMBO rear ended someone once whilst on the phone )
I tried a D3 in both TDV6 and V8 form before going for the d4 and really liked them. But as I have a long term view I felt the investment in newer technology might make sense. Plus I couldn't find a d3 with the options I wanted. SWMBO will be driving it during the week mainly with the kids.
I have to finalise the colour by December and it will probably be built in January. Probably February delivery. have booked a week up in the snow in March to do a shakedown. Winter tyres will have to go on first though of course.
Bit nervous about all the niggles I keep hearing about, but I'm an optimist, it's my first LR and you don't see all that many over here. Lots of German tanks about the place though.
Went with a small neighbourhood sole LR marque garage to big up the little people.
February seems a long time away but me and the missus have another new arrival due in a few weeks which will keep us busy until then.
Greetings to all and keep the photos coming so she can finally decide what damn paint they should spray on it.

Thanks for the advice, this would be our preference aesthetically, but she's worried about the kids making short order of the nice pale leather. I've read the thread on this issue too. Ideally, would like the Arabacia seats that the RRS has as an option. Don't know, probably, might change. Maybe

Just changed my order (before the 'call' deadline) to arabica/almond... Saw a RRS outside the office with this and looked classy. To hell with the mess the kids make. They can clean it!

Finally got a build and delivery date: build 12th March, delivery 1st April
Not going to have it for our week in the mountains at end of March now.
Dealer has been less than helpful.
Order went in to system 29th October. That makes over 5 months end to end. Is that a record?

Could be! Sounds like you are the victim of dealer allocations (or lack of them). Although the order went onto their system, or you thought it did, the dealer has probably only been able to actually submit it to LR as part of an allocation from a later period.......

At time of order they said build in Jan and delivery in Feb and seemed pretty definite. I know there has been a LR revival here in recent months. Typical that it's my order that is pushed to the back of the queue. Should have ordered from the importers (who are a big dealer themselves) rather than a little place.

Quick update for anybody that cares (I realise no-one does of course) : Importer just told me that build will now be start of April, delivery towards the end of that month.
If they stretch it out to April 30, this will make it SIX months from start to finish....
I deserve a medal or something.... Should I ask for free rubber mats, go faster stripes and an LRE day to ease my pain?

Another update: Now the delivery date is April 17th supposedly. I was told that the lazy Brits are only doing one shift a day at the factory, hence the long lead times (it's even worse for the RRS). The dealers and customers just have to suck it up.
I've just sold my old car, and the dealer helpfully agreed to loan me a car free until the D4 arrives. Irony of ironies, this loan car is identical to the one I've just sold: another XC90!
SWMBO is laughing at me. using arm rest more than rear diff

Finally pick my car up on Saturday. Just in time for me to fly to Asia on business for a week. SWMBO will get all the brand new car joy. Just hope she doesn't dent it before I come back. using arm rest more than rear diff

At last!
You'll love the colour choice - the almond/arabica goes beautifully with the bournville. We picked ours up a day before going away for 10 days on our bike. Something nice to come back to though!
Enjoy!

Thanks for the encouragement! I'm missing a planned bike trip to the Mécrin custom meet because of this Asia visit. And SWMBO's birthday. So what with the D4's arrival, and the riots in BGK, and the volcano fun, timing couldn't be worse using arm rest more than rear diff
