Check with overfinch the wheel weight rating. If its 900kg (which I would have thought it should be if these are genuine), then go with the 22's, just get some tyres fitted which are weight rated at 111 or above. Kerbing will always be an issue with low profile tyres on big wheels, as will harder ride. As has been said, let your insurers know if you go for 20's or 22's

Hi Pikey2

What Al said above Thumbs Up The disco being a heavier girl than other LR motors it requires a heavier weight rate
of tyre (111) , (a bit OTT perhaps , but best to stick with these values to keep insurance happy)

22" are no different than any other car , in that you will have to mind them, most on here don't like this size on the Disco
because most on here don't like "bling" ...

To be honest 20" is the biggest Rim I would run on , you almost get the same visual as the 22" but you can live with them
day to day ... also go and price a 111 22" tyre Whistle

Have a look at http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic13859.html if you have not done so.
here a pic the day I put the 20" on mine,

Let us know what you decide .

thanks for the info chaps, looks like i'll stay away from the 22's and go for the 20" stormer or 20" rr super sports.

are the 295 40 20 toyo proxes ok, as i have seen a couple of sets with these on?

cheers

probably not, as 295/40/20s are RRS size, so probably not weight rated at 111 or above.

111 min ISTR (or is it 110) but I may be wrong as I am from the other side from the spectrum and prefer 17"ers.

OK - tyre wieght ratings:

For D3 in the UK - 111 minimim
For the same D3 in Oz - 109 min

Mainly due to tyre supplier agreements LR already have in place as much as actual car wieght. If you divide the D3 wieght by 4, then 106 would be OK, but its well below what LR spec's for the car, so probably not type approved for the car, therefore (possibly) leading to insurance issues if a claim was placed - is it worth it?

I'll get off me soapbox now

that because they are all off RRSport's, they were never fitted to D3 by LR. They come up occasionally, when a D3 owner sells theirs, or you need to either buy a set of rims only, and then get some correct tyres fitted, or go to one of the site sponsors here, who sells them with the correct tyres.

I don't know how much truth their is to this, but when i was considering fitting the 19's FFRR, a friend and master tech at local LR franchise told me to be careful not to fit anything bigger than what comes standard on the Disco 3, as LR would not cover the ball joints and or wheel bearings if the vehicle is still under manufacturers warranty.

this holds true for anything not fitted as standard - if LR believe it has contributed to the fault, then warrenty on that part wont be honoured, but the onus is on them to prove it has contributed.

Bigger wheels - wheel bearings - maybe, but the wieght and rolling diameter (providing you not been daft) should be the same as standard

Compare any of our 20's, even those with 295/45x20 tyres against a 255/55x19 MTR (which LR fits to the D3) and you wont find much difference.
