and it was all going so well

Just as I was about to explode with admiration for our D4 (after days of performing superbly in bad weather) she has gone and let herself down.

We are getting a series of error messages - that seem to cascade through the system. They are all "yellow" messages which include :

Gearbox fault
Park Brake Fault
Stability system inoperative - drive carefully
etc

and a number of yellow lights come on with a small yellow triangle in the top left of the screen.

A restart cleared the faults - but they returned a few miles down the road. Driving did not appear to be affected.

Should I just ignore this and hope it goes away (maybe ice on a sensor or something) or does this need a trip to the dealers ?

Oh dear!

I would at least phone LRA and log the fact with them. If it drives ok, then I personally would not get them out now, as they would likely take it away and a dealer would not look at it until after chrimbo.

You could always take it over to lakeland land rover in Coniston, they have always been helpful.

Thx Gareth - I just rang Lakeland LR and they advise to do the following.

Remove both + and - terminal cables from the batery. Join up the negative and positive cable ends for 20 - 25 minutes. This apparently resets the vehicle and "should" clear the error codes.

Here's hoping ........

Yes, but it may also prevent a diagnosis of the cause of the original fault. However, if it reccurs, then I suppose it will recreate the error log. Good luck.

Did they also not tell you to turn around clockwise for 3 rotations whilst swinging a black cat above your head in an anticlockwise direction, then pat your head 6 times ?

Usually works for me Laughing

Only kidding of course.
Sorry to hear of your troubles, but as Gareth says try and live with it over Christmas.
There's nothing worse than spending the break without your D3 or 4 on the drive.

Question

Look, I tried swinging the black cat - do I now need to do something with a globe ?

D3 would do strange things when the brake globes blew and shorted the connections. I thought it was fixed by MY 08 but I could be wrong. Maybe woth checking yours haven't bown. Idea

Low battery can also cause odd faults and the D4 has had issues with low battery warnings....just a thought.

Mine was in for the cruise issue fixing (which they didn't fix despite a software update) and I mentioned the gearbox fault issue. They said they had fixed it but I didn't ask how exactly, as the warning had only come on once.

Maybe there is a software fix for that too?

Er chaps, you are forgetting one important thing. Land Rover have cured the old D3 issue caused by blown brake lamps....

By upgrading the rear lamps to LEDS 8)

Just another reason not to trade in my D3 for a D4. Exterior might be improved but the interior still causes the same problems.
