low oil pressure warning

Got the low oil pressure warning on my V8 Discovery. Stopped and checked immediately if the dipstick showed oil and under the car for any sign of loosing oli. After restarting 5 min later the warning light went off and stayed off on my five minutes drive home. Sadly warning light came on again when I entered my homes underground carpark. Checked the oil level on cold engine two days later and all seems fine. Added quarter of a liter just to be 200% save and started the car in the garage. Oil Pressure light went off after starting but returned about 2 minutes later.
Not sure if related, but the problems started on my way home from a car wash (about 10km city traffic).

Any ideas or words of wisdom welcome...
Question Should I get the car towed to the dealer or ask the dealer to check for oil pressure in my garage?

Don't forget oil pressure warning is exactly that pressure, it does not necessarily mean that the car is low on oil. I had a similar thing in an old car, it was out of oil but I didn't get an oil light on. I would get it checked ASAP at a dealer.

Oil pressure warning

Agree that oil pressure is not oil level, but too low oil level could cause low pressure and the manual recommends to check for oil level as well...
Now the question is how to get the +2 tons out of the garage and to the dealer Sad

Not on my Disco but I have had a faulty oil pressure switch once that frightened me stiff at the time. Can somebody change or check that first at your home before you restart; they are not expensive if like my Saab one.

The fact it happened post the car wash gives hope it might be just an indication issue.

warning gone

left the car in the garage for a few days and now the low oil pressure warning has disappeared. So I guess it was an issue caused by the previous carwash. Funny that a real offroad car can't even stand a normal car wash...

..and the solution is...

A few days after my "low oil pressure" warning story I took the Disco for a ride with the family. Took me a while to figure out why I had a "boing" message every few minutes. The exterior temperature went up and down betwen -40C and +30C. When passing through 4C the ice warning came on. When reaching -40C the climate control also started heating like crazy assuming that we just left a Sibirian Garage.
Checking the wiring diagrams I discoved that the both sensor wirings come together behind the Left side dashboard. That started me searching until I found TSB 501-007 mentioning different flase warnings caused by water ingres.
To resolve the issue I ordered new windscreen pillar trims for both sites.
Hope that will solve the water issue.
