I have just been out and checked my D3 and the noise from the Goodyears are in fact HPs!
Dont do it!
I am trying to find some new 19" wheels and tyres so i can see the back of these HPs
I dont know why Land Rover fit them as standard as i have had nothing but trouble
It broke my heart thrwoing 2 sets with 6-7mm in the bin due to the noise. Noise so bad when they wear that i took the car to the dealer assuming i had a wheel brearing going - on test drive with me they agreed but 3 days later they told me its just the tyres!
I am in Leeds if your in the area happy to let you go for a test drive - bring your ear plugs

Hi
We had scorpions from new and they were worn out by 11k, which I thought was really crap. I replaced them with wranglers and they have done 9k and are still at 7mm. No issues with wet weather grip and I have not noticed them to be any louder on the road than the old ones. No uneven wear issues either.
I got 4 18" fitted and balanced at just tyres in Stourbridge for £504 inc Vat. http://www.justtyres.com/ (I did not get a price on line, I just called)
The local place Kingswinford Tyres http://www.kingswinfordtyres.co.uk/ did match the price and did me a spare wrangler fitted and balanced for £126 all in.
Cheers Paul 2006 TDV6 S Auto, Buckingham Blue, for the wife and kids.

Scorpions definitely off the list then due to the poor wear rate
Not sure I need to go for Pirelli ATR's or the General AT2's cos don't go off roading so........
Was thinking of the Goodyear Wrangler HP's but a couple of you have reported bad experiences with them or maybe the General Grabber UHP's ?
Anyone using these General UHP's and what would the wear rate be up against the HP's ?
Cheers all

Hi, just put a set of AT 2's on yesterday, amazing, very quiet and sure footed. Compared to the standard Goodyears they are leagues ahead! Very reasonably priced, I couldn't make my mind up but eventually made the choice for the AT's, amazingly quiet on the hard stuff compared with the Goodyears, took to the fields and I was very pleased a great all rounder. Highly recommended! 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE auto, Cairns Blue, Lamp Guards, LR Roof Bars - Just love it!

File this under useless information, but having just come back from my local stealer (who was unable to do what they said they'd do today - surprise, surprise - c s) I looked at 10 Disco 3's on their lot. 9 had Pirelli Scorpion's, and the other car had Goodyears. Given that the cars spanned 06 to 09 plates I was expecting to see a more diverse range of rubber.
But I didn't.
Useless, see? PAGODA

Just thought I would update my previous comment. Having had the AT2's fitted yesterday, I thought I would check the pressures. They were fitted by a 4 x 4 company in Norwich who are highly regarded........
NS FRONT 30PSI
OS FRONT 37PSI
NS REAR 46PSI
OS REAR 32PSI
Either their gauge needs recalibrating, or they just couldn't care less - the latter I suspect.

Muppets!
Think it's their brains that need recalibrating.
I'd report it if I were you - that's totally unsafe & bang out of order.
What if it were a mum with kids having her tyres changed by this lot.
Wouldn't want my wife or kids travelling in a vehicle with pressures out by that much !!
At least you had the sense to check them!
But I would now question "are the wheel nuts torqued up correctly" ???? ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

I beleive Pirelli Scorpion ATR's are a popular choice
Not tried them myself but I beleive Ken rates them pretty highly

I bought some general for a freind and he says they are a good all rounder but a little noisey. the tread is quite agressive so suspect that is the noise issue. but they are highly rated in US - check www.tirerack.com they have loads of reviews of tyres
let me know how you get on with the final choise - i really hate these Goodyears. If anyone is interested happy to sell 4 goodyears only done 900KM

Ah, just the man, love me GY, found them to be a bit more positive when towing, have a full set of conti just fitted, too comfy for my liking, if yer up for a swop, running on standard unmarked 17inch rims so if yer the same, straight swop including wheels
