I put Continental Cross Contact UHP's on 2 weeks ago and just got back from my annual 3000 km trip to the snow - very happy. Mother nature even chipped in with 15cm of snow to test them on/in! (snow on the road all the way down to the rangers station on Alpine Way for those who know the area)
No cheaper than the wranglers though - still cost me $450 a corner. 2012 MY13 SDV6 SE D4 Ipanema Sand with Almond leather
2012 TDI Passat - they reckon the DSG is crap, I reckon it's awesome

2007 MY08 TDV6 SE - gone

Also have Continental Crosscontacts - done some 20 k and very happy - agressive tread pattern but little road noise. Been in deep sand and some mud stuff - all good. Cost around $400 ea. 06 SE, long range tank, Mitchell Bros hitch, dual Kaymar spare wheel carriers, Traxside dual batteries,

GG AT2's get the thumbs up from me. I've done 45,000 km with 12lt/100 km avg fuel consumption with city driving and they have plenty of tread remaining even for off-road use. They are still a very capable tyre on the bitumen and give me great grip for spirited driving on sealed roads. I must admit that I'd fit my Cooper STT's for serious off-roading but if there was no option to get a LT tyre then the GG's are a great second choice.
Oh yeh, so much cheaper than the OEM GY Wranglers with more tread depth to.

I ran the Cooper Zeon LTZ's on my sport for 12 months and they are an amazing A/T tyre.
Have run them on the dunes at Stockton and Fraser Island and towed the camper up at Fraser with them.
Have also put them through lots of mud and serious off-road situations, all without any probs.
They are a 285/60/18.
I've just upgraded to a more serious set of Cooper Armour Tek 3 STT's on a set of 17 inch steel wheels as I found I needed a more aggressive tread pattern for some of the offroad stuff I'm doing and now alternate the wheel sets for different conditions.
Had to switch back to 17's to get the muddies on as there are no serious mud tyres available for the 18 inch rims (all have too large a diameter).
The LTZ's run at around 305mm diameter from memory.
They only just fit in the guards and you can experience some rubbing on really heavy conditions but it's only on the soft inner plastic guard and has never marked the wheels.
Turning of the DSC is also advised.
You can find some video over on my You Tube Channel of them in action. (Look at some of the older vids).
Cheers

Cooper LTZ's all the way.
Been running mine [in 20"] for 18 months.
Great on road - no extra road noise.
Great off road - excellent grip on all surfaces.
Fantastic tyre!! ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧
