Went to the big smoke via the M3/M4 this weekend to see Avril Lavigne in concert, passed 5 D3's going the other way over the course of both journeys, waved/thumbs up to all but in vain can't be members of this site. No D3 problems to report which is a refreshing change - isn't it nice in 6th cruising down the motorway! 2004 Discovery 3 - gone

Also tried in vain to say 'hi' to other owners... even a smile at a service station is greeted by a 'what the you smiling at me for' look.
Maybe the new generation of owners are not quite as into their cars than we are with ours ???
Or maybe its a sign of the times in the UK ? People being suspicious of others all the time and having no time to be sociable and god forbid... friendly !
A big smile all on the forum of course

Go to Islay, or indeed most places on the west of Scotland, and you get waved at by almost everybody, regardless of your motor. Everyone should do it - road rage would be a thing of the past.

We are the elite guys. We want to enjoy are cars and others just use them.
I was crying today as a D3 came buy me with a huge 2 wheeled old farm trailer in tow with wheels the size of a tractor and a road roller on the back. I didn't wave because the weight he had behind must have forced him to have his hands glued to the steering wheel.
If it was any of you guys in Northants in Finedon near the A6, let me know because it must have been around 5.5tonnes on the back Astonished is not the word., Gobsmacked

Today I have been to Ludlow and back, (yes Simon, there are lots of sheep for you to enjoy aren't there ), saw lots of D3's, they are getting quite numerous now.
Unfortunately, my wife has stolen my D3, and I am having to drive the MGB at the moment (she loves the MG and the D3, but kids are off school this week), so there was no point in me waving.
Back to normal next week.

Gareth,
Funny I've been oop north this week at Granada TV and Yorkshire TV. Same as Cheshire, right
My visa came through to enable me to go over the border. Didn't bother with the jabs as I was sealed in my DISCO3 which we all know is very airtight and great for those last pockets of the plague...
As for the Landies...
Shukers is just off the A49 so many LR's are around that area. Also MANY farmers in the area that think the DISCO3 has just landed from the Moons of Yavin !
Shame cause we could have had a beer at a local !
Yes the sheep are all over the damn place - especially on Clee Hill as its common land and no fences - VERY big road pizza sometimes.

Yes, its quite alarming really, MG owners do like to wave. I have not got a beard like most of them seem to have though.
I get the most waves when driving to old S2a though, its a bit dangerous, as its a brave driver who takes one hand off the steering wheel on a series motor!

On my Series III I can do over a quarter turn of the wheel before the Landy starts to turn, plenty of time to wave The End
