Peak District 10th January 2010
Went out for a peruse of the local climate conditions this afternoon - lets just say I probed as far 'east' as I could get.
So - I have two questions for people....
Number 1 - where's this?

Number 2 - what happened next? (video to follow...)

Gareth - correct it is top of Roych Clough - god knows how deep the snow is in that first top section - it was effin' wild up there

It stopped to take some photos and met a little group of Defenders on a 'trip out' who had given up on Rushup Edge (I found out later you couldn't get as far as the Edale turn & carpark) - they went off down the road opposite Roych and got about 30 yards before the spades came out

The snow pile blocking the gate to Roych was about 10 foot high I reckon - so climbed it for another shot

And no he didn't crash, he didn't get the chance. But notice what the car passing me is - a Rover Streetwise - woohoo, arguably the only 'offroad' (and I use this term very loosely) vehicle Rover built that did not have the words 'Land' or 'Range' in its name... I went up to Glossop from here to have a look a the state of the Snake Pass (and to grab a bew at my mums house)
This is right at the bottom after the first corner
I turned round at this point and unbelievably met an old BMW 5 series and a fookin' Nissan Micra both full of kids attempting the climb - Micra driver was not best pleased when I mouthed to him 'what are you doing you fookin idiot' Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

It was quite hairy up there on the wednesday before new year, i only had to contend with am idiot in a nissan pathfinder who thought his stupid big wheels would give him extra grip in snow drifts, he nearly took the side of my disco off when he lost control whilst going far to fast.Disco TD5 Commercial (now gone)

I curtailed that segment to exclude a further condescending remarks to myself about "driving an inappropriate vehicle" and when I stuck my head out of the window and called to him "you've been a bit stupid haven't you?" Snap from DiscoStu's video of the same place three years ago... suggests snow was as deep as a Disco is high
