LR Assist & Stratstone (Houghton le Spring) |
|
Called out LR Assist 19th Jan fault showing:
Suspension fault - lowered
HDC & Special Programmes not available
Park Brake fault
& No Speedo
I was in a seminar on the Sunderland Enterprise Park 9 till 2 LR Assist said they would have someone there for 2.00 pm they were right. Diagnosis O/S/R wheel speed sensor fault! No roadside fix so taken to nearest LR repair centre Stratstone. Home by 4.00p.m. With a courtesy care by 6.00pm. Thank you LR Assist!

Stratstone advised BIG JOB need to remove inner wheel trim blar blar blar could take a full day, as fault is not as original diagnosis. Well they have my car so please press on ... ... we don't think it is covered under your extended warranty sir.
20th Jan 12.30 pm
Went to Stratstone got my warranty book from car took it home and had a good ole read. Telephoned Stratstone asked them for a progress report. New diagnosis wiring harness corroded. I read out the exclusions to the service reception individual and could not see any electrical component not covered bar bulbs, batteries TV, DVD, Phone. The operative said he would call me back after speaking with head tech person.
20th Jan 4.00 pm
Telephoned Stratstone advised the service reception operative of earlier phone call (12.30pm) and that someone would ring me back in 5/10 mins, the person has been with a customer for the last hour. So what happened between 12.30 (+/- 5 or 10 mins) and 3.00 pm I asked? Anyway the job may be part covered by your extended warranty but a full report has to go to LR warranty folk and they may be able to twist their arm to cover the cost. Oh and while we have your car we shall do the Brake Vacuum recall as not to inconvenience you further sir!
21st Jan (9.30 am ish)
Your vehicle is ready to collect sir, no charge (we managed to twist someone’s arm, saves me a job then) full warranty cover. So why was I worried about having to sell all the kids Christmas presents on EBay to keep my pride and joy on the road. 4.00pm collects my lovely and clean inside and out D3 nothing to sign there are your keys sir happy motoring. All work carried out as described replaced the wiring harness and the recall sorted. Off you pop cheerio.
22nd Jan 10.00 am
Telephoned LR customer service very nice operative listened to my will they won’t they cover the repair under the warranty and to inquire about the person who had their arm twisted to make sure there was no lasting damage … or a finger of blame to be laid upon me. Advised no claim through yet, customer service operative telephoned Stratstone who advised him all work carried out and would be entered on the system soon!
Is it just me or did they expect me to pay for the repair and then make a warranty claim. that would never happen.
Do you not have to sign to verify as a customer you are satisfied with the work and acknowledge that the work (or something like what they said) has been done.
Needless to say I will be avoiding Stratstone under fear of some serious arm twisting! Club N.E.R.D.s

Slightly off topic , but is this a new Stratstone venture in our part of the world
From what you have said just reinforces my belief that you can't beat Team Valley Service Centre. When my Discovery needed warranty work had no quibble about going there.

They took over repairs and servicing when Durham closed!
Won't be going back and will be giving LR Team Valley the next service that is due beginning of March. Now need to sort a warranty out for the next year!
Obviously next to the Jags ans Aston Martins I was the relatively poor relation! I hope they treat those owner better ! Club N.E.R.D.s
