Extended Warranty
Hi folks
New to site but Disco 3 yrs old in 6 weeks & wondering whether to take out extended warranty.
Local LR stealer says they charge £97 per hour & warranty direct only pay £50!
Any advice on which warranty to take would be much appreciated. Thanks

Warranty Direct normal maximum hourly rate is £200 per hour see summary at http://www.warrantydirect.co.uk/summary_m.html# However, it is also possible to take out an unlimited hourly rate policy. Move cursor over "Maximum garage labour rate £200 per hour" on table for further details.

We can offer a cheaper warranty package, with lower hourly labour rates, but good range of cover for the cost: www.warrantyuk.co.uk for full details, as well as any other bolt on insurance / road side products you may need.
If I was to buy a D3 privately and has FSH but is out of warranty (ie about 5years old) but less than 75K on the clock, I can get the warranty via kam100 I assume - but one of the conditions of the policy is pre-existing conditions are not covered. Which is fair enough - but how would I know if it was or not? Would I need to have it inspected and a report done?
ThanksMark.

I wouldn't dream of owning a D3 without a warranty, they are complete cash cows (from my experience, other experiences differ). Got 2 WD warranties lined up for when the Tesco warrty dies. Don't expect it to pay for everything, think of it as for when/if big things like engine or diff gives up.
Just took out Warranty Direct Policy after speaking to one of their guys about the policy details directly.
It's worthwhile calling them to discuss the policy and not going by the quote on-line - also worth mentioning the forum name

I went on the WD site at the weekend, got a quote of £807.62 for their 'Extra Care' package - which is actually slightly more expensive than the LR extended quote (not inc LRA) I got............so I've been umming and errrring about which way to go.........
A very nice chap from WD just rang me, explained that he deals with the Landrover side of their business, and that the prices on the website might seem a bit steep - and would I be interested in 20% discount off the original quote ??????, bringing the package cost down to £645 all inc.
Now, what do I do
£645 is a fair wedge of cash to fork out, when I might not need to make a claim (like all things insurance ), the Disco is nearly at 45k miles, what can I 'expect' to start wearing out, and how much am I looking at ?
I know the EGR valves cost about £300 a side to have done at a main stealer, can anyone give some ballpark figures for other repairs ?

Think I'll wait for the very nice man to ring me back (seems from other posts that they will !), and then we'll have a little discussion on prices..........Jim
