Thanks Martin - I have noted that the site will reject anything (on the profile update) that is not correct.

I had entered the latitude as a +ve and both had the abbreviation E or S which was rejected. But all is well now I can see myself on the map of the Great Southern Land.

Excellent, glad it's working ok now Smile

You're right - it should probably give a warning if it doesn't accept the co-ordinates rather than just ignoring them Embarassed

Excellent job Martin - sooooo easy to set the coords - and I like the interface on the main map! Your a star! And I can see that Gareth and I are a long way north of the rest of you - so far...

I won't ask you for 'alternate coordinates' - to cover where I am 4 days a week near CrazyDave! Wink

Everyone likes the fact that the D3 icons pop up. I do. Mr. Green

Thanks Martin for making all this happen...

Although you prbably didn't have a direct hand in it, I am intrigued by the shadow that is cast when the popup is displayed.

See gallery for picture of shadow.

I haven't had so much fun since waking up alive this morning. (You are still to go to bed I gather.)

Sorry... Embarassed

I have trouble making it work ! Zooming and moving around on the map seems to freeze the system under Safari and Mac OS X... Crying or Very sad

Can you give an example of how to enter the data in the numeric way ? Some of us have GPSeses and some might even know how to use those ! Wink

Example :

My data in France should be entered as : N48°52'52.29" & E2°11'03.88" in WGS84...
In Georgia where I am right now, it would be : N42°37'24.05" & E41°44'28.88"

What would be the correct "entry" in your system ? Wink

Hi Gurvan, I'll have a look at the Safari/Mac OS X problem, I might have to commandeer simon for some testing Wink

To convert to decimal degrees (DD) from degrees-minutes-seconds (DMS) use this formula:

Decimal Degrees = Degrees + (Minutes/60) + (Seconds/3600)

North and East are positive, South and West coords are negative.

So N42°37'24.05" becomes +42.62334722 and E41°44'28.88" is +41.74135556 Mr. Green

Thank you Martin !

I guess that my actual position in Georgia, being temporary, should not be used... But, hey, it is fun ! So I'll use it...

Anyway, if you want me to test the thing using Safari/mac OS X, I can try... But my availability is subject to my job at the moment...

Wink

Basically, what happens is that the systems of selecting the position in the windows hangs after a while...
