Could also be the sign of gearbox/torque converter failure as symptoms are very similar to the linkage fault.

Im new to the forum but i was wondering could i have some advice please?

When i kick the throttle down hard, the vehicle has twice refused to change out of third. Ive changed to command shift, but to no avail. When i stop the dash reads, fault, gearbox has limited gears!

Ive had the vehicle plugged into, and no fault shows! Once you pull over, and switch the engine off, then restart, everything is fine........ I dont boot the disco very often, but every now and then you need to pass something.

Any ideas please???

Does it come up "engine system fault" on the dash when it happens. Have seen a blocked fuel filter cause these kind of issues before. If it is the filter, the engine management should have stored a low fuel pressure fault Thumbs Up

Hi,

I'm new to the site but on my second disco 3.
This one is quite new to me but I've just parked it up and now can't get any gear to engage- the stick will move to reverse or neutral but no gears engage and the stick doesn't feel right. Switching on and off allows me to shift the stick to drive but still no drive. The stick won't move position after selecting a gear unless switched off and on

Any thoughts would be really appreciated

Hi All,

I too am new to the site and a new disco3 owner...love my new disco but have an intermittent fault, when i brake i sometimes lose my gears and the car just revs when i try to pull away, i have to either move the selector across and back to get my gears again or wait until i see the small G on the display... My father in law has changed the oil in the gearbox once and replaced with an extra 1/2 litre but this has not rectified the problem
any ideas??
cheers
steve

The selector pivot is siezing or siezed on both above posts is the most likely problem read Disco Mikeys comprehensive repair in the WIKI. Advanced factors supply a complete kit fairly easy replacement. Thumbs Up

Hi I’m new to the site, but I have a problem with my disco 3 revving to close on 4000 rpm before changing from first to second. But not all the time?
Any help appreciated

Hi Paul what are your tyres like, they need to be the same size and tread depth all round or the traction control thinks you have lost grip and prevents gear changes.
The other thing that will cause this is if you are in sport mode. If you put your gear lever in to drive and slide it left it will put the gearbox in to sport mode. Sport will then show on the dash

I'll tag onto the end of this running thread, i noticed a few weeks ago after car laid up for 7 weeks that only D was illuminated in my shifter console regardless of what gear i'm in but otherwise drives fine.
Then a few days ago i went to use sport mode and it doesn't work, console has not been apart for about 2 1/2 years and all was working previously.

Hello every one, i have changed torque converter ant i have the same story, but before i have everything good. I have P 0705 u0402 fault code.
I check electrical conection and try adjust the selector cable (becouse i have loosen the bottom nut).

Sorry, i can't delate the post, but i have solved this issue. I have installed wrong the mechatronic board. Feedback sleeve wasn't in corectly position. But i didn't can take out oil pan when the gearbox was in car.

Only just had a chance to look at this again after fitting a Llams suspension controller, did a hard reset and no change and also realised i have no sports mode with i flick the shifter to the left.
I assume that the selector illumination is a function of the shifter surround and that sports mode is activated by a switch there as well, next step is to remove the centre console and check the wiring connections.
