to anyone who's thinking of making their own to save some money - don't! these are an absolute b1tch to make yourself - I know I tried it. and only 1 of the 3 I made appears to work in mine - spend your six quid or twelve (or 18, why isn't there a 3 cable option btw?) and THEN worry about how you're going to get the fakra plugs in the back of the sat nav unit without busting the pcb Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

The order I put it was for 40 leads.
32 (must remember I need 2!) are accounted for so far. I'll leave the group buy open for a little while after the first order total has been reached in case there are requests for more, as I can put another order in as soon as the first batch arrives.
Cheers,
John

How do we pay for these?Volvo XC60 - does all that the D4 should have done
Discovery HSE MY16 (good apart from the heating), now sold
Audi TT Roadster (wow)
MGB Roadster (owned since 1992)
Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE MY08
Saab 9-5 Aero 2002 (gone but not forgotten)
Reading the original Woodman thread I see that he needed to carry out a long winded procedure to activate the screen:-
Quote:
To access the video inputs you must go though the Diagnostic Menu. Although this is a bit tedious due
to the amount of key presses, the big advantage is that you get picture-in-motion without having to
fiddle with any speed sensors on the car… thus the navigation still tracks your position whilst you are
watching a DVD! (which obviously is difficult whilst driving anyway!)
o So start up the overhead DVD unit and play your favourite film!
o On the touchscreen, press the RIGHT HARD KEY to get to the home screen
o Press the “invisible†button which is at the very top in the middle of the screen for about 3 secs
o The press and hold the LEFT HARD KEY for about 5 secs (if at this point the map appears you
didn’t hold the invisible button down for long enough!)
o You then get asked to enter a Diag PIN number – this is 753
o Now you get various options depending on your car specification, but if you select VIDEO
INPUT TEST and then TV/DVD you should get your picture up!
Has anyone overcome this to have it automatically recognise an AV source?

Thanks everyone for the orders. I will place a second order for all those requests over the first 40 as soon as the initial batch has arrived.
sjf1,
I believe the screen is the same on the rrs and so the leads should fit. HOWEVER, please do some research, perhaps search through posts on the RRSPORT.CO.UK forum to make sure. Please do not take my guestimation as gospel!
Gaza,
There is a box that you can buy to recognise the individual AV sources. The last 2 options on this link:
http://www.nav.tv/category/7/69/131
It's a lot of money.
jdhx,
I've already paid for the leads - had to for the order. Once they arrive, I'll contact those whose requests made the first batch for payment by bank transfer, paypal or cash for those that can make the next SE meet (minus the postage cost ).

I have had an update from the suppliers. I should have the leads next week.
Will let everyone know as soon as they arrive, then sort out who wants them posted and payment details.

I would also be interested in one of these cables...
If i have got the info correctly does this cable then allow me to fit a TV-Tuner in my Disco3 and access it through the diagnostic screes, something like this:
