Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.
Wonder if anyone can help me with one small gripe....
I have a Q1 2010 Land Rover spec comparison sheet that says grand black lacquer trim is standard on the HSE (with straight grain walnut as a no-cost option), but I've just realised I've been charged £495 extra for the black trim.
I called the dealer and he told me the price has been changed and he can't take it off the bill. Advertising one price and charging another??
Any views / suggestions?

Just priced up a 3.0TDi Q7 to £5k more than the Disco and that's just an A6 Avant on steroids.

Quite simply put the D4 is the most accomplished, stylish, comfortable and properly capable vehicle in class at present. None of the competition look like coming close. Good decision and one you will not regret.
I have often thought the same thing - i.e 50bloodythousandsmackers and have even been known to comment that this is FFRR territory (which I would have in a flash BTW) but truthfully a new FFRR in the same spec is another 30 grand
For what you get it's not a bad price and something I learned a long time ago is that the sweet taste of a low price is soon overwhelmed by the bitterness of having to drive a crap vehicle day in and day out. Oh and you only live once; remember the Land Rover strap line - One wife, Kill it, erm I mean One life, Live it.
Like I said, good call and I've no doubt you'll soon forget the cost once you're in it.

Hi
I'd definitely go back to dealer and ask him for your 495 back - the spec sheet is quite clear & AFAIK the HSE has Piano Black as standard. They should be able to take it up with L/R if they have been charged incorrectly. My dealer refunded the cost of the Adaptive lights that were wrongly stated in the last price list - but I had to go and ask then chase them up (several times).
Unless someone knows for sure that the spec has changed (I'm sure they'll be along soon to let you know) then I'd keep at the dealer until you get your money back.

Thanks thriftwood. I just got off the phone from L/R and they said it is still standard on the HSE, so I am not letting go of this one. It's annoying though - Harwoods are leaving a nasty taste in my mouth.

Chidd, I too have been charged for the GB wood. The reason is that the 2010 dealer price list says chargeable. The LR website says standard, so too does the 2010 accessory/option price list that someone put on here a few days ago. I have come to the agreement with my dealer (Lookers who have been great) that if they don't get charged neither do I, which seems fair. I must admit though it is a bit disconcerting when others are not being charged. I'll find out soon - mine due for delivery 1st week March.

Well at least that means they aren't just trying to rip me off. It does seem a bit rubbish that this sort of discrepancy is possible in this day & age though!
Cheers for the feedback Steve.

2006 Metropolis LE was over £47K, with extras pushed it closer to £50K
Can't believe so much for a car, but any regrets, hell no!
As the saying goes......One life, live it!
Enjoy.

I've just added the heated steering wheel to my order. We'll be well into Spring by the time I take delivery, but I reckon I'll be glad of it by Christmas. I've been wearing gloves every morning and evening for the last 3 months, and they make seatbelts and buttons quite a challenge...
(Plus I got the £495 back for the GBLacquer - with a grovelling apology - so still feels like I'm saving ££!)

I am just in the process of Ordering a new D4. The DP (who know his stuff) has informed me the Black Piano Wood is now a cost option nearly (500 quid) on 2010.5 model year cars. Satin Wood is standard. Current:
2014 RRS 3.0 HSE
Porsche 997 GT3
BMW 118d SE
Past:
D4 HSE 3.0 TDV6 Auto
D3 HSE 2.7 TDV6 Auto

why do dealerships wish to jeopordise a relationship with a customer over a measily 495 which is a fraction of the total cost of the vehilce. particularly in this case when you have a legitimate reason for your request of a refund. if you get nowhere with the refund, ask for free service or something of the kind.

UPDATE - Not happy with the response from the DP, I contacted LR Customer services who have confirmed that Black Piano Wood is still an FOC option on the HSE. Current:
2014 RRS 3.0 HSE
Porsche 997 GT3
BMW 118d SE
Past:
D4 HSE 3.0 TDV6 Auto
D3 HSE 2.7 TDV6 Auto
