Thinking of Buying a Disco 4 |
|
Hi all great forum!
I am in the British Army based in Germany, some of you may or may not be aware that we get tax free cars among other things.
For instance my 09' Ford Galaxy Ghia only cost £15,000 otr rather than the £26,000 rrp this is not only a tax discount but also a forces discount.
I don't know much about the Disco to be honest but I was a member of the "Pajero Owners Club", (I know there's a little rivalry)
Anyway I have been quoted £23,000 for a 2010 GS.
My questions are what sort of extras should I get and what will it be worth after a year with say 15,000 miles on the clock.
Thanks in advance and nice to meet you all
Neil

Get everything you can and I would imagine that in a years time with 15K on the clock it will be worth more than you paid for it!! 2014 D4 XS
2005 D3 SE - Gone

Buckers,
I should be ordering an XS tomorrow. Will see the total cost and drop you a line, it should be around 28.5k. More people will be interested in buying an XS or an HSE, but the cost just keeps going up! discodeeva

From looking around the forum the things that I need/want from a car are, aircon cruise control and an armrest
I have to pay extra for these
When I have a passenger I use my armrest and when I am on my own I use the passengers So I NEED an armrest

Buckers - every Disco has an armrest - its called the cubby box. Works for me far far better than the actual armrest. Disco 4 TDV6HSE
Defender 200TDi CSW

Yes and using the cubby box as an armrest puts your head exactly where it should be: right in the middle. The older I get, the better I was.
Discovery 3 TDV6 Auto (BAS remap) after Defender TD4 110 Crew Cab and 1964 SIIA 88.

If I were buying with a mind to keep the price down, I would say 3.0TDV6 with aircon and leather seats. I agree, the arm rest is a big thing. See here for the UK spec you have to buy to get an arm rest: http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic39265.html?highlight=arm+rest
If you do buy, you'll find that forum member Ian62 is a good connection for a LR event in the Weserburgland in September. Search for Ian62 or Mammut Park. I hope to see you there.

Had a look around a HSE yesterday, very impressed indeed. My only real concern is the cost of the extras that I would have thought come as standard ie cruise control.
As it stands...
1. Disco Quite pricey for car, but the best car for my family (4 kids+dog)
2. Another Galaxy Very good car just bored with it (no 3)
3. Pathfinder How much better is the disco?
4. Outlander Will depreciate loads (Mitz)

My neighbour just retired from the RAF.
His wife saw mine's Disco 3 (SE) and was impressed.
He was looking for a 2nd user one at around £30k.
In the end with his discount and a scapage of £2k he got a brand new D4 HSE for the same price as a 2 yrs old Disco 3.
NOT FAIR D4 HSE - Aintree Green
D4 Orkney my13 - gone
Stornaway D4. Gone, Didn't like it at all
D3 silver manual. Loved my first LR

Pathfinder vs Discovery......no contest!!!
The Pathfinder engine is gruff and not very powerful, the ride is choppy and the interior is a proper plastic-fest. 2011 D4 Landmark, Mini Cooper SD Clubman, Range Rover Vogue SE

NOT FAIR
Just as I thought although it was the HSE I saw I would liken the interior (of the other models) to the now very impressive Ford Galaxy (I did have a Ford when they weren't impressive)
