Just found the compass display on the HSE 4x4 info screen, but it seems to be inactive. (I was going to say always pointing North, but you know what I mean! ) Read the manual but can't find it listed - so how do you turn it on?

I don't have the LR sat nav, but I seem to remember that you need to go into off-road navigation first and then into the compass screen before it will work.

The navigation needs to be active, as in you need to have accepted the warning.
The compass display, north up or heading up, is controlled by the same setting on the nav map.
It isn't the same as the D3, you don't need to be in offroad mode navigation.

The compass on my D3 doesn't work either. After a previous post, I tried going to the 4 x 4 info while the off-road nav is active but when I press the button for compass the suspension height display is replaced by a grey screen which says "Compass Unavailable". Any ideas?

You have to physically see a compass on the off road nav ..not just go into it .
Theres a button on the bottom row which will give you map view / map and compass / compass and long / lat .
Just selecting the map does not work G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Accept the warning for the satnav, then if memory serves, you need to press one of the hard keys at the bottom and select Off Road Navigation and then go into the 4x4 Info display. Now press the compass and it should come up.
It's a combination of buttons, not just 4x4 info and compass. ATB

Is there a way to get this to display somewhere all the time - my 2001 has this in the mirror in terms of direction which I think is a great feature. Ideally they should have put a directional heading in the center of the gauge cluster in the info screen...
Anyway to mod this or hack it in there? 1984 911 Carrera

Thanks once again Wiggs, finally got the compass showing on my 4 x 4 display. It's easy when you're told how!
