Looking on Carsales there are actually HSE V8 units 20K cheaper than the diesels when I take into a/c the gst savings if its a purchase from a dealer or from a private seller who is a business. This equates to a lot of fuel money and a lot of accessories.!!!!
I wouldn't think there would be to many places in OZ that doesn't have ULP only diesel???????
Does the V8 need PULP to run efficiently and is this widely available?????????

a 20k saving is mighty attrative and the V8 a sensational drive in the D3. And yes, would suggest that, unless doing very remote travel, ULP is generally available. The only consideration is that while ULP may be avail (as in 91 Octane), premium may well not be. And, if some heavy offroad work is thrown in with the touring, range is a factor (we also have a V8 petrol Cruiser and while its returns about 11.5l/100kms on the highway, put it on a beach and it'll empty both tanks mighty swiftly!)
Just depends on how much planning you are willing to do!
Still, what a car and what a sound...

Certainly in the UK it runs fine on our regular gas (95RON) my experience is you fun Premium ULP (97 or 99) then consumption is a bit better Craig

Preacher,
Go for the 3.o TdV6. With 600 Nm torque it'll rip stumps out of the ground, and with 9.3 sec 0-100km time, it's only marginally slower than the V8. However the real killer blow is you'll average 9.x l/100kms rather than double that for the V8. It doesn't even sound like a diesel (from inside anyway) with a very sexy V6 growl that whilst not as stirring as a V8 rumble is very pleasant on the ear.
Cheers
