My G4 broke down (temporarily) today.
I was on the M25 towing a 3.5 tonne load and all of a sudden, with no warning, engine lost all power, and the dash lights went berserk. Lots of error messages and the car slowed down to a crawl. Stopped it, turned it off and then turned it all back on and it was fine. No further problem all the way home.
Whats that all about?

Mine did that but went into Limp mode after stating special functions were closing down, there are threads on here talking about loss of power, try a search and see what comes up

And after that is fitted you will then be sent away and it will happen again, this time they will fit a Manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor, then it will be fine, well mine is still OK after a year of finding the fault and carrying out those replacements

I had to repeat the same journey 3 times this week with the same heavy load and all 3 times it broke down in the same place (coming up the long hill on the M25 just by the M23 turn off)
Its going in to LR tomorrow.

Obviously this is a known problem, I personally have experienced it on the highway when accelerting all the way down, I have always thought it had something to do with the local diesel fuel mixed with water at local gas statios where i live.... but now I might be wrong. I really have no clue suxs "Dude don't even worry. The water is only about a foot deep."

Well mine did exactly the same, the same hill as you were and yes 3 times, so I would look at what I had done, there must be something happening on that slight slope, I told LR so they could try and work out what it was, whether they cared I don't know. It really does make you lose confidence in the car though, especially when towing heavy loads

They replaced the diesel filter, reckon it was partially blocked.
We shall see.

What were the fault codes? they normally guide you to the source although from what I understand there is some cascading of faults that is done making things a little more difficult.
Good luck!

I reckon that there were a number of filters that have been faulty...
I had the same problem some time ago now, but was indicated that they expected quite a few to fail in this way....... Bodsys Brake Bible
