Hi all, this is my first post, though I have been lurking for a while. We currently have a D3 which is our 5th Discovery & have a D4 XS on order. Anyway enough of the intros, here's my question. Has anyone used a trailer with LED lamps with a D4 & if so any problems? Apparently certain CanBus based vehicles can have problems. Any info / thoughts appreciated

I run a D3 with LED'S, hardwired a box I brought in from Austrailia, works great, no problems no matter what the weather, shame the same could not be said for the Rubberlite LED light combo's, ucking awful - about as waterproof as a paper bag

I run LED lights on my trailers and it does not cause any problems, the lights work fine, I dont think the car knows that the trailer is there though. ie The reverse sensors don't switch themselves off and the indicator light on the dash board doesn't show the trailer light is working. I assume that trailer assist and what not aren't working either?
Does anyone know which lights the car looks for on the trailer? Or is it all of them?

Kenny - was the trailer lighting "activated" by the dealer after it was installed? Other threads about trailer lighting don't seem to be conclusive that it needs done - so you may have found out why it's needed.

Do you have the genuine LR plug in wiring harness for the trailer electrics or an aftermarket? On my D3 I used the genuine LR kit & everything worked out of the box without any activation on the dealers part. Reversing sensors switched off, dash light worked & I got a warning message if I tried to raise the suspension with the trailer plugged in.

my disco regonises the trailer, even reverse works on the trailer (have it be a normal fillament bulb fitting).
If you want a new LED module already configured for disco3/FFRR/RRS, that you can hard wire into the trailer electrics with 7 pins adaptor on the end, PM me, I've got one sat in me garage with fitting instructions

What is this module of which you speak, & what magic does it perform?

In my case the tow hitch and electrics were delivered already fitted with the vehicle when new. So I assume that they had been activated when at the dealers, if that is required.
Character, thank you for the offer but we are a long way away from each other, I would however like to know what is in this module? I have spoken to my local auto electrician and he talking about a magic box (must be magic if it costs $300), apparently fitting resistors doesn't work on d3/d4.
