I have just scuffed near side front wheel arch and black section of front bumper on a brick post. Smart repair will be 200 plus VAt but I am told that may not last. Local very good car repairs will do it for 150 plus Vat but say they cannot get the number for the black paint type stuff from land rover and will do their best to match it. I presume having the whole lot replaced would be extortionate - anyone know which way I should go or the best method of repair?????

Smart repair shouldn't be a problem really but as a body shop will do it cheaper go with them. A match will probably be fine but am sure somebody on here will oblige with the colour number. Can't believe it isn't available though? Have you looked on the VIN plate and/or the vehicle handbooks as often code included there.
Wait a bit longer and an expert will be along any time soon.....

Re: oops - SCUFFED BUMPER AND WHEEL ARCH - HELP
What is this "black paint type stuff from land rover"?
Were is your green D3 painted black?
Do you mean the plastic wheel arch and bumper corner? I thought they were just unpainted black plastic 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG
The bodyshop told me that they can obtain paint numbers/plasticote to repair plastic (they are not colour coded in the Tonga Green - that would be much easier). They assure me they can blend in a repair providing they can match the matt black finish.

If it is the black plastic trim arch, just buy new trim or buy some off e-bay. you can also get a bumper from Slimer.

Going to try the bodyshop route tomorrow - they want the car for 2 days to get the match right and try and get the textured finish - may be back in touch with those who offered help if this fails.....
They are very good at their job but I have only used them for straightforward paint jobs. Oh, I hate all this, don't like to be without my Disco for long. Only hit the post because I thought we were being burgled and was trying to turn round in a rush .........

FFS replace the plastic trim! it just clips on. It'll never look right filled & painted.
Same with the bumper.Long succession of Disco's since 2001...
SIII Lightweight - neglected & rusting. Bulkhead, A panels, vent panel & outriggers now disintegrated - Next years project!
Glad to say the bodyshop have done a fantastic job. They have matched up the matt finish beautifully on bumper and wheel arch and no-one would ever know the difference.
