You have to remove 2 pipes and the butterfly valve in the air intake, very easy job wont take long

Have a look at bell auto website (site sponser) there is a great pdf fitting guide which tells you all you need to know

you fit the blanking plates (one each side of the engine, as you would expect on a V6), then either remove the butterfly in the throttle housing, or easier, remove the link that operates the butterfly and fix it wide open with a self tapper.
thats it.

PS if its just blanking plates, you dont remove the pipes completely. Volvo XC90 B5 Plus Dark

Blanked EGR pipes off today as it took me ages to crawl across the car park yesterday. Already a big improvement although I haven't remove the butterfly flap yet due to not having a T25 bit slim enough to get to one of the solenoid screw.
What's the significance of removing the flap if there's a big improvement after just blanking the pipes? Faultmate MSV2 EXTREME

you should have an airflow problem if you havnt got the butterfly wide open, with egr blanked, as the way the air flow works is that the butterfly closes when egr's open, so in your case you've got the car closing the butterfly, but no airflow via EGR's, as these are now blanked.

brum, as you know you need to remove the butterfly as soon as you can.
When the butterfly is closed the engine is designed to suck air from the egrs which at this time would be open, but now your egrs are blanked it will be fighting for air to breath as it cant get it from the normal place.

So the TDV6 is addicted to smoking
I know I have to remove the butterfly I'll be doing it Tuesday when I have the torx bit I left a work I just wondered what difference it would make as the hesitation from pull away has already disappeared Faultmate MSV2 EXTREME

Butterfly flap taken out today (due to rubbish weather all week). Didn't take too long to do and no bits snapped off
With just the EGR's blanked off there was an improvement in mpg which is now 21.5 on the dash, before it was 18.9. Would be nice to see 23mpg+ with the flap removed, so fingers crossed Faultmate MSV2 EXTREME
