Not happy - anyone else having this problem? |
|
I posted a week or so ago about my D4 (ordered 2nd feb for April 5th delivery) delivery being delayed for a month. Apparently this is due to lack of engines available at the factory but I am reading of others getting theirs delivered early (3 weeks early!) despite being ordered at the same time?!
What is going on? am I being taken for a ride or a mug?

Can't imaging there's a backlog of engines as Ford are pumping them out of Dagenham like the winky one ....query your dealer ...something smells 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Sounds like a dealer that took your order without an allocation. Which dealer was it?

Through a lease broker, I had the order form and the delivery date of 11th April then all of a sudden he mailed me to say there is a shortage on engines available and whilst the car is in build it wont be ready for delivery until the 12th May. I dont know the dealer who he deals with, I will find out though

There is a shortage of 3.0 tdv6 as they under estimated the demand for RRS 3.0 over 3.6 (which will go at 2011my) but dealer allocation is being catered for. Maybe they expected more slots but realised they wouldn't get them due to engine shortage. As you've gone through a broker the dealer margin is small so they will sell what they can to the highest bidder!

There's no shortage of engines ...as clarified earlier 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Well on Friday at Solihull that was the case when I was there. Sounds like they've sorted it quickly. It's not just LR who take that engine.

Dagenham are meeting all production requirements at present Maybe LR have screwed up their JIT allocation 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Quite possibly or shifted their allocation to XJ. I think they have been overwhelmed by demand in South American markets. Everything going down the line had a Brazil sticker on
it.
Dealers are getting extra cars qtr 3 so maybe they're pushing broker orders back. They don't need to discount to sell at the moment so I get the impression they want every penny they can make on each unit. Can't blame them after the year they had last year.

I know you know this already but my end of October! order was originally due for Jan build Feb delivery, then delivery was put back to March, then start of April now end of April. Due to suprisingly strong demand and low supply (only one shift in operation rather than the normal two) apparently. I don't want to put you on a downer but you should be prepared for more delays maybe. using arm rest more than rear diff

I think my dealer has been telling fibs about built slot dates when taking my order. I was specifically told the build date was today but, they thought it could be brought forward and quoted today as the delivery date on my order form.
The Business Manager has just called as he needs to complete the application form for the % finance deal before close of business today. They need to have a built slot allocation number for the finance application to be accepted. He confirmed that the build date is the beginning of May however, LR are forecasting the build will take place on 26th, April. 5 mins before the finance guy called, I was speaking to the Sales Manager who assured me he had done everything he could to have my car delivered today. Why can't they tell the truth..... Current:
2014 RRS 3.0 HSE
Porsche 997 GT3
BMW 118d SE
Past:
