Front Wiper Blades, Parked Position

With all the rain we've had over the last few days a particularly annoying noise has appeared from my wipers today!

When i've checked I note that the nearside wiper arm parks on the plastic valance panel below the windscreen and its as it leaves this panel that i get the noise.

As i dont have another D4 locally to compare with, can any of you out there tell me if the nearside blade should park on the valance.

Mine definately parks on the glass. (Both blades) 2011 D4 Landmark, Mini Cooper SD Clubman, Range Rover Vogue SE
