Hi
Has anyone blanked off the EGR valves similar to Disco 2.7 TDV6? It is the same motor but with a different EGR system.
Thank you

As I understand it, from 2007 the EU emission regulations require that the engine management system shows a fault light should the EGR system not function correctly, and that the engine be put into limp-home mode shortly afterwards.
Blanking may be physically possible but it will only make the situation worse. A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

Is it possible to reconfigure with faultmate so that the ECU does not see the blanking of the EGR's? We in africa are far from EU standards seeing that we still have Euro 2 diesel
The EGR valves looks differently but again, we are still exposed to LR first bash at designing a new car....suv
I do not want to sit with a possible problem or be the first to experiance it with a dud EGR system.

site sponsor BAS (pete) will be along shortly to tell you about the blank + remap solution hes working on. Software can be changed so that ecu doesnt check egr and light the mil lamp, or something like that. There's one wheel on my wagon, but i'm still rollin' along, it's the cherokee, they're after me, but I'm singing a happy song

I see that you have finished the dyna tune of Disco4. Any results in terms of torg gains? Are the comments correct that you are also looking at blanking the EGR as well?
Regards

Hi no public figures as yet, i still have a lot of work to do to finish the tuning to a satisfacory state where i will publicly say its ready. And we are still addressing the best option for tuning if its not done by me at my workshops.
As said once all my current work is done ill make the EGR off soloution public for the D3/RRS 2007.and the D4/RRS 2010's.

Hi - quick question. Newbie here. If one EGR valve needs replacing is it likely that the other is due to go as well soon - ie do they normally go in pairs? If so, I have to have one done, it might make sense to do the pair at the same time? Thanks.

Chips, I did one in July last year and the other one this last weekend. so one failing may give an indication, but no more. TBH, if I was going on an expedition and I had one fail not long before, I would do both as a precaution, but just for UK/Europe, just the one is fine. As long as only one at a time goes, it's manageable for a short period at least. Bodsys Brake Bible

I just had one go on my D3, a 2 pence piece jammed in the pipe got it running well enough to drive home from France. The Check Engine light was on, but it ran fine. I presume the same get-you-home fix applies to the D4.
