Steering knock when braking.
When braking in a smooth manner, the steering feels very smooth, but i've noticed that if I have to use a short sharp brake then there is a knock or feedback through the steering - if you try cadence braking you feel it each time you push the pedal.
Anyone else noticed this, not sure if its a problem or a characteristic!

They most obvious answer would be the check your anti-roll bar bushes.....
Have a look and if they're ok, we can start going through the more complicated ones 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG

I had the exact same symptom on my old D3, it was the knackered lower front wishbones that caused it.

when you say "sharp braking" are you sure it's not the ABS kicking in?
that gives the sensation of "feedback" in that the pedle vibrates and this is very noticable?XC90 T8 R Design Pro

Hi Dave,
No, I dont think it is - there is no vibration in the pedal - the steering wheel gives a distinct pull.
To give an example - reversing into a space this morning, at less than walking pace, I braked a bit too hard, and the wheel knocked. If i'm very gentle it doesnt.
I know there is a tendency to fixate on a problem, but it is definitely becoming more pronounced.
Just about to speak to LR, hopefully pop it over tomorrow for them to see.
Cheers

Test drove it with the LR mechanic, definitely a fault rather than characteristic, its going in Friday to be checked, will update after.
Thanks for your help guys, made me sound very confident when discussing it.

Hmmm. Not overly impressed so far.
Car went in at 9am, just called me to say the mudguards are fitted (one hour plus parts), and the noise from the brakes is normal for this model.
Noise, what noise? It has a distinctive pull in the steering under short sharp braking. Their mechanic told me Weds it had to come in asap, they've had it for 8 hours and havent checked it. Numpties.
Still, numptyism not unique to Land Rover so just have to put up with it until problem sorted.

wobbly,
Did you have any response on your problem since you went to LR dealer? I have the very same simptoms in my D3. They say it's the steering rack that needs to be replaced (1300 eur)...
Cheers.

More likely to be bushes or steering rod/tie rod ends.
Take it to an independent who knows suspension and haver them inspect it. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
