LR Raised Air Intake - any holes visible when detached?
Hi,
I am considering installing the genuine LR Raised Air Intake and waterproofing the system beforehand so that it can work as a genuine snorkel.
BUT I wanted to detach it when using it around town.
I was wondering when you detach it, and put the side grille back, are there any visible signs (brackets or holes) that it has the intake "missing"? Or does it look identical to a car that has never had it installed?
I had a look at GTR installation instructions, but can't see if the 2 holes that go into the side grille back will be into the painted metal of the car, or into the plastic within the existing hole in the metal.

two holes/rivnuts in the bodywork just underneath the vent - suppose you could cap them with somethingSteve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

yep, two visible holes on the wing above the grille and then one on the top of the trim that runs beside the windscreen.
Get some grommets and use them when its off, would look neat enough I'd guessA happy childhood ... is the worst possible preparation for life.

Thanks heaps for the info. It'd still be far less intrusive that installing a Safari Snorkel, which seems to require a lot more work and cutting etc. I heard the LR Raised Air Intake is not a snorkel per se, so would require work to waterproof the system.
I think fitting an OEM one which can be removed is very do-able.
Happy to show you what is involved.
