New to LR
Hi Martin,
I'm relatively new to Land Rover, having driven a few over the years and loving them I was delighted to make a purchase of a 2015 Discovery 4 earlier this year.
I've just had it in for a service and I have been brought fully up to speed on the down sides of ownership! not that that will put me off just yet... It seems there are a few issues Auto Transmission Oil needs changing, steering rack seals are leaking so the rack needs to be replaced, and there is an oil leak on one of the turbos. The garage I bought from only offered a third party warranty so I've fairly limited cover.
Anyway the purpose of my visit was to get a handle on this Auto Trans VF Oil which seems to be like gold, the mechanic has quoted me €700 + VAT for the OIL and another €245 + VAT for the sump,seal and filter.... happily he doesn't seem to care if i supply the parts so now I'm on the hunt and greatly appreciate any guidance.

Hi Landmover welcome to the forum
The proper gearbox oil ZF lifeguard 8 is expencive but not that expencive and cheaper alternative oils are availible from reputable manufacturers.
Its also better to have a mega flush done, it removes more of the old oil and contaminates without the need to replace the sump and filter. Use the search function, its been covered many times and there is even a diy guide in the Wiki section.
Which turbo is leaking oil? There is a modification kit availible for the righthand turbo that replaces the long oil return pipe and replaces it with shorter one. The longer pipe has been known to crack and leak oil.Andrew

Bought an LR3.... Oh god what have I let myself in for :)
Hi All,
I have always wanted a Disco3 - its such an icon of the era that nothing else would do! I eventually get there courtesy of a divorce (having to sell the newer car) and here I am with a big smile on my face and 2 weeks in a host of problems...
Is anyone local to NP190EQ who may be able to assist with electrical gremlins and auto gearbox issues?

I've just bought a D4 HSE in Bali blue.... the best colour I've ever seen a car painted IMHO
I've driven it home so far. really excited to get to know it... and name it.

New owner - HSE Lux
Morning all !
First post here, but I’ve been a long time member on FFRR and RRS and a lifetime LR fan with over a dozen cars owned over time. This will be my first discovery since 1996 though so happy to take any tips for my collection of it tomorrow.
It’s a 2014 HSE luxury that has had a recent engine with paperwork and engine warranty from LR (about 14 months left). It’s a private sale and I’m fairly technical so keen to avoid the embarrassment of any other immediate expensive repairs!
Any tips or tricks welcome but really just wanted to say hello!
