AVE system saved a tire today.
On my way back from playing in the Olifants river I must have driven over a nail or piece of wire which caused a puncture. The system immediately alarmed, indicating a puncture on the left rear wheel. I was travelling on a dirt road at the time and would have lost the tire.

If the AVE system works on Zinkplaat roads, then its a winner.
I need one.
Anyone else interested in a group buy? I am only a few km from the gadgets store, and volunteer to arrange collection etc.

I'm in, and can also collect since I am just up Brakfontein road. However, I'm out of the country and only back over the weekend...

Hi daniem,
Do you need anyone to look after your Disco while you're away.
Yours in hope,

Baben,
Gadget & Things also sell a GPS system that includes radar detection. I am interested in buying the kit. Seeing that I already have the TPMS, maybe I can increase your group's buying power by latching my GPS purchase onto your order?

OK fitted my AVE system today . As mentioned it has an internal sensor/ transmitter , which means you need to take the tyre off to do it , but this makes it more robust than the tyredog which would work fine until you went off tar. It has a much nicer display than the digityre which sux as much as the after sales service (had 3 units go faulty - old stock I think so that batteries went flat - and I am still waiting to have the last one replaced) . I also like that you can have up to 27 wheels monitored and I sprung for the remote which makes this easier.
So far so good .... watch this space

Hi Nico
I only took the basic starter kit to test with. Now that I'm happy with it I will get more sensors and play with the remote.
After trying numerous places , I eventually put the display on the LHS drivers air vent using the clips provided . It doesn't really effect the overall cooling of the car , and the display is always out of direct sunlight

That is exactly where I put mine as well. Problem is SWAMBO keeps on moving it

OK the (R)ave review continues . Once I muddled through the engrish of the manual I achieved the following .
Set up front and rear tires + spare
Set up trailer + spare
Set threshold for front and trailer to 2.3 Bar
Set threshold for spare and rear wheels to 2.5 bar
It was dead easy using the remote
Also you have an option to engage or disengage trailer as required
So all in all

Tell me a bit more about the option to engage and disengage the trailer tyres. Iwould lke to disengage the spare wheel sensor when I go off road. Do you need the remote to do this? I did not invest in a remote

You need to go into truck and trailer mode (M7 and M8 IIRC) for the option to be available. Won't work for the spare though. The remote was the best R600 I ever spent (just like their ad says 8) )
