Trip Computer Settings Menu (new question) |
|
OK... LRCS has just fobbed me off again over this. I want to now compile a little feedback to them from the site members if this is OK by you.
I would like to prove to them that many owners have this feature and that it should be present on my car.
What I need to know from 'S' spec drivers and Entry 7 spec drivers is :
1. Did you have the Settings Menu from day of collection ?
2. If not, was your dealer able to enable it without question ?
3. Have you been told by LR or your dealer that the feature is standard or not standard when you asked to have it enabled ?
4. Do the settings 'take' when you change them ?
5. Month of vehicle collection.
6. VIN number... be interesting to see the correlation here as delivery date does not denote build date.
Please email to simonharper@mac.com
Many thanks in advance.

Noticed this post has had over 50 views... but I have had only a couple of responses so far...
Either you all have the 'luckier in life than you' SE or HSE Discovery 3 spec or no one is keen to try and help me persuade LR to commit to features that appear to be included but are not useable or accessible ???
I would love to be able to 'play' with setting my FBH from the Settings Menu (which I of course seem to have missing at present) as many others do. I will certainly join you all in the noise around why owners are not able to control it as per the book and as suggested by some dealers and even your Settings Menu.
Thanks again in anticipation

Simon,
Just for your info.... I was looking through the workshop manual (the one on this forum) and it states in there that if you have a highline model (which gives you the trip computer) then you will get the settings menu also.
Look in the appropriate section in the WM and you will see that you can't have one without the other.
I haven't got my S Disco yet so I am very interested in your quest to get yours activated (and to prove you should have had it in the first place).
I hope it should be there as standard as I like to be able to fiddle with settings.
Keep us informed of your progress.
I hope this helps (a little bit anyway )
Cheers
Marc
P.S. as soon as I get mine I will let you know whether it has or hasn't got the settings menu. Disco 3 now gone!!

Simon, why don't you take a trip to a dealer (not your supplying dealer) and go and have a look at an S on their lot? See if you can con them into letting you have a play with it, see if it has a settings menu, ask some questions etc.
Maybe worth a try, as you don't seem to be getting much luck here.
Surely their must be some S owners here that can help Simon out????

Marc - Many thanks for your support, and yes, check to see if you have this. I also noticed in the WSM that the menu should be there in the High Line Message Centre (standard fair on a machine with Terrain response).
LR just say some cars have it and some don't - not good enough in my opinion.
Gareth - will try this route. Most dealers seem to have SE's in the showroom though so I'm hoping that the one I go into are extra helpful if they have an 'S' out the back. In London this may be difficult Will try though.

You're right Simon, this isn't good enough. What determines which cars get it and which don't? Seems a very bizarre for even Land Rover to tell a customer...
Good luck with finding out, if I ever happen upon an S spec Disco I will check for the settings menu

Simon when my car was in for its repairs I got a TDV6S loan car - I couldn't get the settings menu on it. This all seems to be in keeping with a very inconsistent approach to what is in each car - I rather suspect that there are so many software builds out there that LR themselves don;t know what is in which car!! Good luck.

I remember you saying your loaner was a curiously low spec'd 'S'
Why did you think this ?
I do know there are some Entry spec cars out there but badged an 'S' and with Entry Alloys.
Confused the hell out of my dealer when they showed me an 'S' (I wanted to make sure the 'S' wheels looked OK or I'd upgrade them) and I told him it was not an 'S' as the wheels were wrong.
Oh God.... do I have an Entry 7 with 'S' alloys ?????
Phew, I got heated seats and headlight washers etc from the cold weather pack... so should be OK.
Gets me thinking though that maybe I got Entry SW and 'S' hardware. Like it was S'd up on the factory floor as I had mine a month after launch... mmm paranoid maybe... cold weather getting to me... alone in a hotel and spending too much time online...

Simon - that may be the answer - it had an S badge, but the dealer had it on their records as a base model. There was no PDC, Xenons heated screen or seats & no H-K hi-fi + only 17" wheels; hence my feeling it was a bit low spec'd for an S. If indeed there are Base models badged by LR as S this could cause some interesting disputes when they are resold second hand!

I have an S.
It has a setting menu.
I tried to set the fbh, but it didn't "take"... or at least the FBH didn't start.
The salesman explained the settings menue when I picked it up. There were a couple of options that didn't exist on my car (such as the ability to dip the door mirrors - a feature that doesn't exist on an S as you need electrics seats to be fitted (goodness knows why).
I can't remember if I've tried to change any of the non-fbh settings.
I have no idea what my VIN number is.
I got the car in mid January.
Does ths help?

Gilmor thanks.
So far out of the 5 I know with an 'S' at disco3 all have the menu - except number 6 - me
so that's a nice 5 out of 6 - seems a good average for a feature that's not supposed to be included eh ?

Simon,
Make that 6 out of 7.
Now I have got my Disco I can confirm that the settings menu does work on mine as it should (I activated auto locking without any problems).
I hope this helps.
