LR4 locks my 1yo in the car alone when it's 91 degrees

So my mother in law takes my son on an errand to a store. Comes out of the store with LR4 locked, key fob in her purse. Puts junior in his car seat in the back and puts her purse with key fob in the front seat. Shuts both doors, walks around the car and is locked out.

She tries each door but to no avail. A bystander calls the police for her and law enforcement came and opened the door for $50.

I tried to replicate but truck won't lock with key inside vehicle.

Anyone hazard a guess how this could happen?

On the D3 you can change the Autolock feature by pressing the end of the indicator stalk when stationary and enter the adjust settings that is displayed in the dashboard.
Scroll through and hopefully you will find the Autolock feature which can be disabled.

Good Luck

Thanks. I should add this is the keyless entry system.

I checked based on your suggestion and on the LR4 you can access a menu by controls on the steering wheel to turn off drive-away locking, but in this case the car never moved.

Mother-in-law opened car, put child and key in car, shut the door and it locked her out.

Dealer service response = That shouldn't happen.

LRNA's response about the scraped paint in the door jamb from the Law Enforcement Officer breaking into the car to get my son out = We're not liable.

Somehow LR's response doesn't suprise me. Sounds like a good story for the local media, emphasising LRNA's attitude. Good you had someone to get the door open, without them the next step would probably have involved a brick or tyre iron through the side window.

So after more in-depth analysis the official word is - "We can't figure out why that happened, but since we want you to be happy with the car, we will cover the cost of repairing the paint in the doorjamb and the fee associated with having the LEO open the vehicle."

They made sure to point out that this was a good will gesture and not an admission of any defects or faults associated with the keyless locking system.

All in all, they exceeded my expectations.

It's also a good reminder to keep the key in your pocket and not in a separate bag or jacket pocket.

Normally when things happen that cannot be explained, I put it down to software problems.

Brother in Law has a D4 and its got its fair share of software bugs. What amazes me is that LR can actully supply a car in this condition.

Not what you really want to here.
