Seems the A&B pan is the Falcon pan from ZF. It is made from steel and requires longer bolts.

G'day
Would anyone have the reference for the replacement ZF sump + filter please ?
Does the metal one come with the vertical tube like the plastic one or is this tube coming with the filter, making it all much simple to fit (read no need to left the engine !  )

No need to undo engine mounts or cross member comes with separate filter. Snap off the old one when removing and replace with separate filter.

I am trying to get a D3 while we are there, not guaranted though...
We did once in a 110 300 Tdi , great for OZ (that one was locally prepared of course...)

I have spoken to Richard at Ayers this morning re Dextron 6, he says that he also did a lot of homework on this matter of ATF and has assurance from his oil supplier that while some Dextron 6 fluids do not pass the M1375.4 spec the one he gets does.
I'll report back as he is getting a visit from their rep today and will get written assurance that it does pass the spec.

While the Oil company rep assured Richard that the oil ( HiTec / Multitransfer) passed the spec. ........................................
He gave Richard their Industrial Chemist's phone number, after a long conversation it was found that the oil doesn't pass the spec for D3's! It is awaiting approval though!
Richard has now ordered 40ltrs of the ZF oil and will drain my box and refill with the approved oil.

Sounds like it doesn't meet the specs.
MULTITRANS ATF also meets the requirements of GM and Ford for use in all applications requiring a DEXRON®-III or MERCON® approved ATF.
Sounds like SIN ATF.
They did a height calibration for me and had no idea how to do it. They measured from ground to control arm even after I told them it was from centre of hub to underside of the guard.

This is a total minefield ! I'm amazed that a transmission can be SO sensitive ,
when an engine appears to have far more latitude in a really rough environment.
What is it that actually " breaks" when exposed to the inappropriate trans oil ?

In the conversation yesterday the chemist said that vehicle manufacturers have a certain problem with a gearbox then get an oil with certain additives to fix the problem! Do you want to get the pan from ZF direct?
I'll see what is the best price they can do.
Anyone else want to change there pan or do a flush?
I'll bet they can do better on price.  If I have some numbers I can negotiate.
Pan kit direct fro ZF is: $260.64
That maybe ex GST. So with GST would be $286.70.
Also ZF is in Sydney so freight will be less or I may collect.

Ask Richard to do a flush to get rid of the old oil. He can bill the oil supplier for the rep telling porkies.

It seems that the oil needs to be changed in certain conditions according to ZF. One of these is high speed (freeway) driving.
Each manufacturer will have a custom control unit I would think so different conditions of operation this may account for the difference with the ZF in the Falcon and the D3.
