Help Needed! Disco is Dead! |
|
Hi, I am a relatively new Disco 3 owner based in Malawi. In February this year the car just stopped, all the usual fault codes hdc etc. We have no real dealer here and no diagnostic equipment (except generic stuff). An ex LR mechanic looked at the car and was convinved it was the high pressure pump ( about 30000ks done on the car), i brought a reconditioned one from the Uk the car started and worked fine for 10 days, then same problem. i returned that and bought a new one from LR uk. Now the car does not start and no codes indicated. the sysem has been cleaned, and I am very puzzled as is the mechanic. I have read that somepeople have had problems because of diodgy diesel- should there be any fault codes showing which might indicate this?
Any help is much appreciated as I am hoping to avoid putting it on a truck and bringing it to SA at huge cost to myself!

Buy a FCR Faultmate and diagnose yourself. This will be my only suggestion as the FCR is model specific and will allow you to pin point fault. Cost is about 250 pounds 2007 TDV6 SE auto (ex Write off)

Bodsy, I have not changed the fuel filter yet, unfortunately we get no spares in Malawi (not the best car for that!). would you happen to know how much they cost in SA and the best place to get them? Cheers

I am no expert but would have thought that your mechanic should have told you to source a filter to be fitted at the same time as the pump??

Landy Parts also have a diagnostic tool called the Hawkeye. It looks a lot simpler (i.e. easier to operate) than the Faultmate?

There was a recall for the HP pump on MY 06-07 models with a certain VIN range. SO LR should supply free.
