maintenance 60'000km question |
|
Hi
I hope this question hasnt been asked before. I tried the search botton but could not find a answer.
I got a LR D3 2006 TDV6. The Display close to the Speedometer shows "-2" when I start up the engine. So the maintance has to be done.
On my old D1 I did all the maintance by myself. And I would like to do it on my D3 as well. I bought some new dieselfilter, airfilter, oilfilter, brake pads and oil.
Than I run into my first problem. The oilfilter, is it really located on top of the engine between the cylinders? If yes, how can it be removed without having a big oil mess?
I also tried to find a manual which shows me what has to be done at the 60'000km maintance. I had one for my D1. It helps alot. Does any have a link where I can download it?
An last but not least, if the maintance is done, how can I reset the "-2" in the display. I guess this is only a counter which counts the days since the service should have been done. Right?
Thanks for your help an merry Christmas.
Thomas

re oil filter, drain the oil from the engine then unscrew the oil filter slightly - you will hear the oil drain out and you can then unscrew it completely. there is no spillage if you do it slowly

You probably need something like a Pela Pump (http://www.pelapumps.co.uk/)
You stick the tube down the oil filler cap and pump the oil out

thiose pumps are great as long as you dont have rubbish in the sump and they dont remove all the oil. good for alternate services though Duncan

Yes those pumps are a waste of time !
Best to get the sump plate off and remove sump plug.
I used the above instructions to remove my oil filter on an interim service. Only dead fish go with the Flow !

Thanks Guys for your fast answers.
It was very helpful.
Just one last question. Isnt there another way to reset the Service Information. In my case its a day counter. Right now it stay on "-2" when I turn the key.

07 and a newer can be reset by doing something on the dash but 06 and older needs a Faultmate or Canmate to reset.
