Tyre Carrier/Fuel Tank
Tomorrow my vehicle is booked to have Kaymar rear tyre carrier and long range fuel tank installed.Anyone else already had this done? The fitter said that it is about a six hour job but it should make the car almost perfect for my needs. Now if I could only get rid of that rediculous tow hitch and fit a turbo chip I would be in Disco heaven!TDV6 HSE Zambezi/Tundra
My rear bar is being shipped to me this week. I'll decide when I get it if I'll fit it or get someone to do it for me.
Why do you want to fit a turbo chip where the tow hitch is?? That wouldn't work! Have a nice day!

I'll post some pics after I get the vehicle back. As an interesting aside the fitter had great trouble getting the spare tyre down from where it is housed as the tow bracket was in the way. It would seem that if you are towing and get a flat you need to unhitch the trailer or jack the rear of the vehicle to access the spare. I forgot to give the key to him to unlock the tow hitch;hence the problem. Just another indictment of the most stupid towing solution that I have ever seen.TDV6 HSE Zambezi/Tundra

Yeah, I experienced the problem with the tow bar on a flat on Sunday just gone.
Luckly I was not towing the trailer, and could detach it.
Who supplied your duel battery, and how much did cost to install?

It's a Rotronics system supplied/fitted by the local Opposite Lock franchise.I don't recall the actual fitting charge but it involved more than a day's work for their electrician so I imagine it would have been around $300-$500.For some reason the Rotronics comes with a maze of boxes and wires so I thought it was definately not DIY-- for me anyway!TDV6 HSE Zambezi/Tundra
trm, I have a TJM setup, but I advise you to wait for a few months.
drivesafe (a forum member here and at www.aulro.com.au) is developimg a system with approval from LR. It seems the D3 charging system is 'smart' and requires a new type of controller otherwise there may be problems with the car.Have a nice day!

Here is a picture of the story so far. I haven't managed to wire up the lights or install the actual wheel carriers yet. You can see the spiggotts where they go on either end of the bumper.
More to follow..Have a nice day!

Jamo,
How easy is it to remove the rear plastic bumper and how does it come off?
I need to get it off to start on my new design tow bar to replace the factory rubbish, have the design , materials now just the time needed, been on hols. so after catching up I will start.
To remove the plastic bumper cover:
Remove rear mudflaps
Remove some of the plastic clips underneath the wheel arch flares and gently pull away the flares from the rear
Undo plastic clip holding bumper end that was hidden by the flare.
Open tailgate and remove the taillight assembly
Pull out the four plasti clips along the top of the bumber that are hidden by the tailgate (you have to move the tailgate to the best postition for this)
Remove the two bolts from the top at either side and the four screw from underneath.
Pull away the bumper cover from the two sets of plastic clips at either side and pull the bumper cover off.
If you have reversing sensors, disconnect near the LHS taillight harness.Have a nice day!
