Car knackered by Wireless networks
Has anyone had problems of their cars either getting flat batteries or doing funny things as a resuly of the miriad of wireless networks around.
My dealer has had a number of instances and apparently so have others, where wireless networks have kept a car "awake" and flattened the battery, and also locked the car when using the keyless entry !!
There is one dealer in the south west where they have had to push the cars off the the forecourt and around the back of the workshops because the wireless networks of the surrounding buisness park keeps killing the cars
EDIT
MODS - this needs to be moved to D4 Electronics Duncan

Shhhhh or LR'll blame said networks for problems with EPB, EGRs, turbos, compressors, bushes, bearings and all the other bits that are designed to fail just out of warranty!

Wlan ??)
To be honest the WLAN story is hard to believe as that 2.4 GHz band is so crowded in cities that the car would not work anywhere.....
What I can confirm is other Electric Noise keeping immobilisers systems from working correct. As an example my Brother parked a car almost on a Tram track and when he came back five minutes later the car would not start due to the "safety feature". Was really annoying as we thought the above wires of the tram might be the issue, but the nice smart would not allow us to put the gearbox into neutral to push the car a few meters away.
The driver of the touring club flatbed truck that rescued the Smart of my brother (loaded on the truck, moved a few meters and car started as normal) told my brother that there is a bank downtown where about once a month a Chrysler owner calls for help as the immobilisers can not be deactivated. Also a case of moving a few meters only....
So I am lead to believe that interference can keep the car from going to sleep if you have bad luck but I do not think WLAN is the issue.

I must admit, this does sound a bit April 1st, however I have heard of car batteries going flat in airport long-stay car parks, something to do with the radar "waking-up" the cars electronics or setting alarms off.
So maybe a WiFi signal could have a similar effect Clive

Its actually very common on earlier models and there is no real reason to imagine it might not on D3's
