I want the LR one but technically its not a snorkel, not water tight. Saying that just like many have said, if you get water up that high im sure there are other things to worry about not just water in the intake. many have put the LR one on and put a better seal around where it meets the wing. better defence than none. Plus the LR one looks the dog. I dont think the safari one looks very good.Current: D3 commercial
Past: but not forgotten D3 HSE x2, 5 TD5 disco2's, 1 200tdi disco1, 2 300tdi disco1 one of which was a commercial, Off roader with a rather large spec, ARB's and big travel suspension to name a few.

Forum member SGH sells them, the safari ones......................Personally I would have the RAI over the Snorkel due to looks and function. I dont intend to take my D3 anywhere near its maximum wading depths, but with a Neoprene gasket I made for the RAI, it gives me instant reassurance and get out quick clause.

Cheers Mac,
Im following the other thread with interest.
I think due to the sort of thing that I will be doing then the Safari will be the way to go.
I need to wade as well as having a RAI.

Trying not to bleat on here but anything above the recommended wading height for any extended period, with or without an RAI or Snorkel, risks damaging other components. IMO if you are going to rely on a watertight snorkel to 'protect' the engine ...what other measures are you planning for other vulnerable areas ?21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Following on from the above ...
Step 1 - Ensure that the electronics box behind the battery is correctly shut & sealed - mine wasn't! Regards,

Hiya DG,
Brilliant words of advice
I am fitting a RAI as more of an insurance measure as most of the clients, despite our best efforts, think that it is great fun to make the biggest splash possible on our 'ford and stream' section.
I figure that the more safeguards I put in place then the less chance there is of getting water into the intake.
