Did a few thousand miles on Shell v max & BP stuff and the engine did run smoother plus 10% better mpg. Didn't continue using it as only available where I need it at already expensive garages. Shell fuelsave made no difference for me.

Never done a proper mpg test, but car always noticeable smoother and quieter than run with normal fuel
Big annoyance for me on supermarket fuels is all the knobs doing the weekly shopping in the queue in front of me

I've tried a few tanks-worth of various "super" diesels and not really noticed any discernible difference, apart from maybe sounding slightly smoother.
I just add about 250 mils of decent quality 2 stroke mineral oil to each fill-up now for the same effect.Clive

crwoody, which 2 stroke oil are you using? Freelander forum apperently has discussed it at lenght, I need to research it more. A few mods... and keeping it all running...Faultmate MSV2

I'm currently using Castrol Actevo 2T, got it from Opie oils recently, but I've used others with a similar spec n the past.Clive

Same on The Dark Side, lots of chatter re 2 stroke. Was thinking if trying it but it's a bit if a gamble with £6k worth of engine. Any risks?

I must admit, I'd like to hear from someone better informed but to be honest, I can't see what harm it could do at a dilution of less than 1:300, it's all refined from the same oily stuff after all

no fuel but the way it is driven makes the huge difference
back home over two tank fulls on normal eco diesel I have noticed 20% + better MPG but drove mostly around 40-65 rurla roads and very little motorway which are non existent (almost) anyway
managed to jump from normal 430-450 to 500+ miles per tank

When these "improved" fuels were first introduced I tried the petrol for a couple of tankfuls. I was doing a regular commute on the M25 and the driving conditions were as near constant as possible for road use.
My experience was that it gave a slight increase in miles per gallon but this was more than offset by the increase in pence per mile. I did not notice any difference in performance of smoothness.

the new gen fuels (from liquified natural gas) are lighter and burn easier but contain less energy.
better to buy standard heavier diesel and add explosives (2-ethyl-hexyl-nitrate as per millers etc.). More bang per buck.
adding 2 stroke remains an unsubstatiated argument. commercial additives have, i hope, been tested.There's one wheel on my wagon, but i'm still rollin' along, it's the cherokee, they're after me, but I'm singing a happy song

Regular BP or Shell for me + a hit of Redex every fill, suits mine quite well
