I thought that was likely the case as it hadnt been mentioned elsewhere. Thanks wiggs.
Does the d4 module really improve the call quality?

hey guys,

sorry for jumping into this thread, but I am running out of ideas:

since I have got a new xperia x mini, the bluetooth is not working correctly.
the phone connects with the car, adress book is available, everything okay like before.

but as soon as i start a call, after some seconds the connection is cut.
the multimedia unit does not jump back to radio, i have to do this manually.

what the hack is wrong with this car?

any other phone is still working. the xperia is connecting to other cars without any probs.

what shall I do? thanks for any advice.

cheers

eh, forgot: D3 my 06, xperia with android 7.0

Just took over an hour to read this from start to finish....

Wiggs, hat off to you!!

I have an Australian 09 D3 SE that did not come with voice, nav screen or bluetooth but has the 6 CD sound system. I have bought a D4 bluetooth module, microphone, switches and MOST cable ready to do an install.

I have noticed that my car does not have any MOST cable to the rear (stops at the amp under the driver's seat). It also does not have a bluetooth module power cable (neither older Nokia unit nor D4 style) which I was not expecting. Does this sound right? Maybe it's an Aussie thing!

To ensure that the bluetooth module goes to sleep at the right time I was planning on running a power source from the power connector on the back of the under seat amp down to the module location (boot RHS). I will make up a MOST cable to extend the one from the under seat amp back to the module.

Does my power source sound OK? How many amps does the bluetooth module draw so that I can get the correct size wire and external fuse?

You won't have any wiring in the back .. that's correct

Easiest way to install is like this

http://media.disco3.co.uk/gallery/albums/u...itting.pdf

Only exception is you take the most cable from the radio / head unit instead of the screen

All other info is in the above link

You can take the most from the amp if you find it easier Thumbs Up

To freight your MOST cable out to Oz (Wiggs) seems a little exy so I need to try to get a bespoke jumper cable made locally. Is the cable a specific type? What is the name of the end terminal (the clear plastic bit and the black plastic plug)? Never dealt with fibre before so need to know what I am asking for!

Also, my car doesn't even have wiring for the microphone grrrrr. Is the microphone connector part of the main loom or do those 2 thin wires run separately down the A-pillar and into the (I assume) radio head unit? If so, I could order one from LR or take another trip to the wreckers yard. Or make one, but what size wire is it and is it a standard style plug.

Tried using the D3 wiring diagrams from the RAVE CD but couldn't follow the microphone.

This project is getting bigger every day hehe

Quick update -

I eventually found the microphone wiring glued to the back of the headlining...win

No MOST or power for the module in the rear (as Wiggs thought would be the case).

I have mounted everything - reasonably easy although I don't like pulling my newish car to bits!

Originally I took the power feed for the bluetooth module from fuse 56 as suggested using one of those piggy-back adaptors. With the car off, when I press the radio on button to hear some tunes, the radio fires up but there is no sound until I turn on the ignition. Fuse 56 is ignition swicthed so appears not to be the best to use???? Currently I have it on fuse 1 which is a constant hot (interior lights) but I am not sure if this power will drop when the car goes to sleep of whether the bluetooth module will now be 100% on (and annoyingly trying to take over my phone calls I make inside the house). How can I get around the no radio sound with ignition off issue???????

Playing with CCF using Nanocom at the moment. There are a few setting I need to change. I do not have a screen in my car so do I still do "Multi Media Module (HLDF) Manufacturer Mode - landrover mode"?

Will try Fuse 58.

The HLDF setting is already saying 'Landrover'.

There are several bluetooth options;

cellular telephone
cellular telephone docking station, no bluetooth
cellular telephone docking station, with bluetooth ***
bluetooth cellular telephone module (without docking station) ***
bluetooth cellular telephone module (without docking station) with bluetooth telematics ***
telematic system
bluetooth telematic module
telematic preparation
cellular telephone preparation

I have tried the ones with *** at teh end (assuming the upload of the CCF actually worked).

I am so disappointed and confused Confused [/list]

With docking station and Bluetooth is correct, the reason you have no sound is that the BT unit is not powered, and as such the MOST loop is broken, and the signal is not getting past the BT module, if that is powered, are you sure the loop is "flowing " the correct way in and out of each module in the loop, I assume you have made up the cable as they don't exist off the shelf Thumbs Up

Check the loop Thumbs Up

As I said, teh radio sound is fine once the BT module gets power. Seems like I have just used the wrong fuse.

Just to confirm, I DO NOT have a phone dock in the car. Is the "With docking" still the correct CCF change? I would have thought if the car thinks their is a phone dock (that isn't wired up) it will always think the phone is not in the car.

Have a feeling I may have tried one of the with dock options but not 100% sure.

Is there a way to test if the BT module is broken? Will it transmit a BT signal once power is connected or only once the CAN Bus tells it to start working?

Yes you still need "with docking"

Take the power from fuse 58 .. that's the car "wake up wire "
