head light protectors?

Well finally orders the new Disco this week!

learnt that you can negotiate on price...just have to push bloody hard!

Anyway - mentioned headlight and bonnet protectors and the dealer said that LR dont offer any Shocked

is that right? I definately need something over the light as we often get caught behind trucks out here and also see the odd stone....rock! come flying towards us from the other way (last car had headlight and spot light protectors and replaced most of the protectors over time with cracks from stones etc).

can anyone let me know if there any for the D4 availible - even if they are after market? dont want to be replacing whole light assemblys to often..

Cheers

I asked TLO over here and LR don't make them. They make a grill which is okay for branches I guess but for stones pretty much useless. With Xenons the price they are, I'm surprised that someone hasn't come along with an aftermarket item. I'd have a pair.

I used a stick-on product on my D2 that was still good more than 6 years later when it was sold. I'll probably do the same for the D4 after the high beam alignment gets fixed.

Is this the sort of item that you are seeking?

They are made by EGR. Their Australian website is more informative than the United States or Europe ones, but nowhere do they list "Land Rover" so you may have to phone them.

Thanks Navigator,

Exactly what I am after - web site is http://www.egrauto.com/category/filter?category=107 for others looking.

Yep - no Landrover listed but will call and see what they can do - will let you know what I find.
many thanks. Thumbs Up

When you find the right person, I wonder if you would mind trying to find out if they are available in the UK, and what the quantity discounts might be with a view to someone doing a Group Buy?

You can purchase headlight and fog lamp protectors from Duco Scratch in Queensland Australia. Cost is Aud $108.90. The internet site is ducoscratch.com.au. They are cut on computer controlled device. Kit contains set of instructions, squeegee and video for easy installation. Always-on Paint Protection film is a nearly invisible. You have to be close to the vehicle, and look hard, to see this film. It protects paint or headlights from stone chips, insects, small scratches, and the wear-and-tear sand-blasting effect from years of driving. Paint protection film is semi-permanently installed, similarly to window tint. We use exclusively Venture Tape films and require no special maintenance. Should the need arise, or when the film is damaged, it can be replaced. And you can wax it along with the rest of your vehicle/ bike, minimizing bug and sap stains and easing stain removal.

• Computer cut from 0.15mm paint protection film.
• Lifetime warranty against peeling, cracking and yellowing
• Does NOT affect vehicle’s appearance or aerodynamics
• Contains UV protectants to counteract ultraviolet rays and to resist yellowing.
• High-performance, pressure sensitive adhesive that ensures excellent adhesion to OEM paints.
• Tested by major auto manufacturers (Ford, GM)
• Will NOT crack, yellow, shrink or peel
• Helps maintain vehicle’s value
• Removable if necessary
• Will NOT harm paint

Hope this helps.

FWIW, LR Australia *used* to sell headlight protectors for the D3s. While they were the correct shape to protect the headlights - they were not sufficiently held in place. Only one clip securing the top and the bottom "sort of" clipped into position. Most people had to use sticky-backed velcro to hold the bottoms in place - otherwise they would blow off on the highway.

With the polycarbonate headlight covers, they're pretty tough. I ended up taking my headlight protectors off.

Good luck!

Cheers,
Rob

These Headlight Protectors are fitted similar to window tint. Have had mine for approx 1and half years and have had no problems.

Navigator, Formula4x4 sell them over here, recently bought a new set myself. Agree with Rob, I'd recommend putting some Velcro or similar on the bottom to make them a tighter fit under the headlamps

Good to see there is a UK outlet - and at a sensible price too!

I didn't get the thin head coach bolts for fitting the clip as mine were second hand. Once I source some, I'm going to replace the clip with a small bracket pop-riveted to the panel above the headlight as a better way of keeping them from dropping off.
