V6 Petrol Recall

Well, that serves me right for asking questions about petrol octane requirements - in today's post I get a recall notice relating to replacing the fuel tank Exclamation

Apparently there is a problem with the venting and vapor recovery system and fuel odor, rough running, hard starting, misfiring and hesitation may result and in hot weather, fuel may be expelled through the carbon cannister.

Haven't had any of the symptoms, but I'll get it back ASAP for a looking at. As this is the first visit to the dealer, anybody know if there are any software updates for the basic coil-sprung model?

Yep, that recall's been around for a while, it's basically a potential split in an internal vapour recovery pipe...
You should still get the enhancement programme software updates that are applicable, engine, transfer box module, HEVAC's etc.

Rob,

Check this link: http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic4840.html - that pretty much explains it all.

Yes it should be free. You could even broach the subject with your Dealer and
see what happens, especially being forwarned as you now will be Wink

Well, I have had the fuel system recall done and the software enhancement completed, but as I picked the car up just after closing time I have not discovered just what the enhancement entailed. There appears to be no difference in the vehicle's performance.

But I am a bit puzzled - why did it take so long to advise of the fuel system problems in Australia? Identical spec cars to mine were recalled in Asian markets last November/December for this problem.

The loan car was also a V6 petrol, but air suspended, and after driving it all day, I have to say I prefer the coils, despite the lack of ground clearance. The handling is sharper and the ride is definately better on broken asphalt. Maybe the loaner was a bit below par, as there was a pronounced vibration through the steering wheel at idle as well. But all told, I'm pretty well pleased with mine, especially considering the 'bargain' price I paid.

Black Forest has the LR air intake in stock at a fitted price of $750 - seems a bit steep; has anyone else had a price for this Question
