Not in Afrika but recently had 168k service done to my D3 TDV6.
There are three belts:
1. The cambelt in the front of engine, drives camshafts.
2. The pump belt in back of engine, drives HP fuel pump.
3. The normal accesory drive belt "fan belt" that drives AC compressor, alternator etc.
All of these can now be changed without removing engine or body.
I paid around €1000 for a full 168k service incl all three belts at an authorized dealer.

If this is what's involved for changing the timing belts, there are 2. One of them really is at the back of the engine but apparently it can be done without taking the engine out.
Maybe when they said 3 belts they meant 2 cam belts and the normal serpentine belt?

At what intervals must the timing chain on the V8 be changed??
And can anyone recommend a supplier of the CORRECT oil for a gearbox double fush??
And for diffs while we're about it!?
Please help if you can as Durban seems to be a bit of a backwater as far as non-stealer expertise in respect of D3's goes! 1998 Disco 1 V8 A

hi Discoroy, I have a 2006 V8 and have searched fairly extensively for equivalent oils / alternate suppliers without success. One thing I do know is DO NOT TRY ALTERNATE OILS FOR EITHER AUTO G/BOX or REAR DIFF WITH LOCK. The cost of resultant damage is horrendous. I don't know of "double flush" supplier yet and in fact I am looking into producing the required machine to due this job properly myself. I am also checking the full kit required to fit an external oil cooler for the auto gearbox - removing the oil cooling from within the main radiator. Leaks within the radiator are the cause of a lot of autogearbox failures - water/antifreeze in the oil. I'll post progress on this forum.
Surfice to say - I am still using LR oils from the stealers. What you may try is ZF service depot down there. Not only will they have correct oil but they may do "double flush" for you - it is a ZF box after all. I 'phoned local ZF here and guy I got sounded as interested as LR dealership usually does javascript:emoticon('')
