MAF or EGR failure
Thought I would start a separate topic for my problem. Seem to have very similar issues to maltesenick as in his thread. No power up to 2-2500 rpm then a sudden rush of power.Appeared suddenly with no warning signs
A search on the forum has revealed 2 possible causes, the EGR or the MAF sensor.
Tonight I unplugged the MAF sensor and this gave a marginal improvement in performance but its still not how it should be.
So...does this mean that the MAF is definitely the problem or is unplugging it just improving whatever the problem is???
I'd go with RGE. When I had a problem with the MAF sensor it just gave me "Engine System Fault" message. Diagnostic came up with P2199 which is different to the EGR codes. But no difference in performance etc when the MAF sensor was playing up.The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...
Club "yes, I too have had the EGR's replaced..."
Club "yes, I too have had the compressor replaced..."
Club "yes, I too once had the car at the dealer for a couple of weeksnearly 4 weeksover 4 weeks...5 weeks"
Club "yes, I too have had EPB failure..."
Club "yes, I too get mysterious bings and bongs..."

Installed blanking plates this afternoon and "Bingo" the old performance is back. As everyone else who has done it describes - it is a bit of a "footer" but patience and perseverance gets you there - and the result is definitely worth it! Coincidentally I just refilled the fuel tank so will be interested to see if consumption changes.
