Disco 4 or Defender?
I'm wavering on which to get...
A Disco 4 or a Defender Double Cab Pick-up.
I've had a couple of Defenders and I always felt like every time I got in one I was going on an adventure!
They have bags of character.
I'm interested to hear what you all think.
Does your D4 have character?
I can't help thinking that I'll want a Disco when I'm in my Defender and vice-versa! When the time comes for your life to flash before your eyes, make sure you have something to look at!

It really depends what you're primary use is going to be and what you want out of the vehicle, something only you can truly assess.
If you're going to be humping rubble regularly, then the Defender pick-up will be better-suited to your needs.
However, the D4 will be easier and more relaxing to drive and be a passenger in. Although the D4 is hindered by its large wheels, 19" being the smallest that will fit if you discount the Australian 18" custom wheel project, the D4 is still capable of some serious offroading and it's up to you if you want to subject it to such vigours.
I've taken my D4 with 20" wheels and Scorpions to Glentarkie and gentle green road runs, but now have a set of sacrificial 19" D3 wheels with MTR tyres for offroading and Tyro trials.

I miss my Defender. On the other hand, I don't regret my move to the D3 for its comfort, auto transmission, V6, and its versatility. The Defender has an incredible charisma, one feels like Lawrence of Arabia driving it, but it is horrible for the passengers. But life is made of choices. The older I get, the better I was.

Are you REALLY asking this question???
Shut it gayboy, Defenders are the way forward , but i have just bought a range rover for a gentlemans express
The new defenders are much better than the old ones but d3/4 wins hands down for comfort"you cannot teach stupid people to do clever things"

Saw enough of the ropey things today at Challenger 4x4 in Tongham.... cant see the appeal myself. Perfer to play with Adam's technic lego set!!!! Least those parts fit together seemlessly!!!
You wouldnt know the right end of a spanner if it smacked you in the chops!!...wot Ade said...get back to ya caravan, always knew you had a bit of in you...its why you spent your childhood hanging round travelling fun fairs "you cannot teach stupid people to do clever things"

Smarticus you're a lucky man!
I'm afraid I can only afford one Landy...
I actually have a Disco 4 Commercial on order. It arrives in October...
I think I was a bit worried that I had made the wrong choice...I've got a grip of myself now! When the time comes for your life to flash before your eyes, make sure you have something to look at!
