I need some experienced advice regarding the WCoast. We will be staying at Coffee baai for a week, the Wife and I with our 3 kids aged 11,9 and 4. I have a choice of 2 vehicles to travel with, obviously the D3 8) and the other a VW Caravelle 4 motion  . We prefer the caravelle for a long trip like this because of the space that is far superior to the D3, but I don't want to get there and miss out on great places because of a lack of ground clearance and off road capabality (The caravelle's 4 motion is more to compliment roadholding then for off roading) Any comments on this area and if a 4X4 is really needed to explore the Wild coast would be appreciated. I have a very good friend (John Costello) who lives in Port St Johns. He is a Landy buff, knows the area really well and has written guide books on the subject. Drop him an email for advice (costello@wildcoast.co.za) and he might even be keen to show you around.

Just a report back, I used the D3 and it was the right choice. PLace is a gem. Found a beach where you have sand,trees and grass and the whole place for yourself. Lovely part of our country, I'm going back there a.s.a.p. I posted some pictures in my gallery. White MY2011 SDV6 HSE

Doc , I did phone him and chatted to him but he seems to operate more to the Morgans bay area, he also sounded busy during the time we were there, a very nice chap and very helpfull with who, what and where to get info. Thanks for the contact he also persuaded me to use the D3 of which I'm very grateful. White MY2011 SDV6 HSE
