PaulP, many thanks for the link. That sounds like my problem, and quite easy to solve too.
What an excellent help you all are!
All I need now is the ability to Search for myself, rather than relying on you.
Thanks again, JT.

I am still having problems searching - can search for members but not for items - just get a error page, Tried the fixes above, and done all the Windows 7 Updates as well....
Works for at work but not at home.

BINGO!
My problem has gone away! I can now search. Can't say I cured it though, as I don't know what I did.
Only likely candidate is that Adobe announced it needed to update for Firefox 3.6.10 which had also just updated, so I let it.
Now Search works in Firefox and also in IE8.
Anyone more knowledgeable than I know if that could be the reason? Martin, perhaps?

Still no luck for me....
Running IE8, Win 7 Ultimate.
Still get this error:
This problem can be caused by a variety of issues, including:
Internet connectivity has been lost.
The website is temporarily unavailable.
The Domain Name Server (DNS) is not reachable.
The Domain Name Server (DNS) does not have a listing for the website's domain.
There might be a typing error in the address.
If this is an HTTPS (secure) address, click Tools, click Internet Options, click Advanced, and check to be sure the SSL and TLS protocols are enabled under the security section.
Done what it says and no improvement! Searching on user works fine, trying complex searches eg using + or "" does not make any difference!
It's ok was work on the XP based system. Might try firefox!
