A fuzzy sound after extensive water driving

I live on the river flats in NE Victoria and have just got over being isolated for a week because of the recent floods we've used the tinnie and the Disco to get the family out and the workers in each day - so have done a fair bit of water driving - nothing over the 700mm.
I now have a fuzzy sound - sounds similar to an electrical noise when a suppressor is required on a radio. It gets louder with the revs of the motor and disapears if I drop it in neutral.
Any ideas????

thanks
dj

Slippage on one (or more) of the belts in the engine bay ?

Air con pulley/tensioner.
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

What NoDo$h said. If you search the site for "pulley" you'll find several discussions. Here's one:

Thanks guys

I've had a look under 'pulleys' and am now a bit freaked out at what it might be and the cost (out of warranty)
I took it to the local dealer tonight for a recall fault on 05/06 models and he said he investigate.
I the morning I'll send him a few forum messages to help him on his way

thanks again

dj

Mine has been making a noise like that for years. I wouldn't worry too much about it. I'm not so quick to dash through the mud and water now, though. Wink

Well all is well

$400 and as good as new

It was the"lower idler pulley"

Maybe not meant to be submerged for such a long period.
