[quote="JF Lux"]Julia - sorry to hear of your problem.
You might want to contact Nick (aka TLO...aka The Large One) - parts manager at Yeovil LR. not so much for actually sourcing a replacement engine (though I'm sure he could...) but to get clear answers on your question re: availability etc.
Good luck.[/quot
Could you let me know the contact details of 'the large one' as I can't locate any 'large one' on the forum
thanks

Latest update on my engine fatality.
As I am now in the Uk for a couple of weeks email followed me from land rover customer service, to say that they had followed up the paper trail and reference from Brendan, the service manager at Blacklocks.
They were now happy to report that an engine had been ordered and would be arriving at the dealers this friday the 15th.
This is something of a relief altho we still have no idea of the cause, and that remains a worry. Had this happened 4 weeks earlier we could have been stranded on the strezlecki with rain imminent.
Having received the email over the weekend I then rang Brendan, but was rather surprised to find that he had not yet been informed that an engine was on its way!
It might be interesting to know the engine failure rate for the tdv6, so I thought I would go and talk to Fox's the land rover dealer in Guildford. I spoke to the service manager, who was very helpful, he said that he could only remember 4 or 5 failures since they first came out, and that they were largely due to mishaps like misfuels or low oil, alto i thought he had seen some problems with injectors. He felt that the rate of failure was very low as they look after a lot of discos.
Albury have only had one.
Trivetts Alexandria have only a tdv8 in the time that the service manager has been there.
The general consensus seems to be just bad luck.
Will update when the engine arrives and we find out what they forgot to send.

Sounds like some good news for achange and you will have your vehicle back (relatively) soon

Cynic The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...
