Replace Denso Sat Nav with Garmin GVN53 |
|
Hi,
I'm new in this forum & this is my first posting. I hope I can get help from some of you.
A good friend of mine has a 2007 HSE D3. It comes with a Denso Sat Nav YIB500080 with Japan map. I've checked with Navteq & they don't provide DVD map for Singapore & Malaysia! It seems like it's a good option to replace the Denso unit with a module from Garmin such as GVN53.
At the back of the Denso unit, I see 3 connectors (GPS Aerial, GVIF & a multipole connector). Does anyone of you have a pin description on these connectors?

Hello Wiggs
I have just read the Navigation system PDF for the D3. I have a D4 GS and would like to eventually upgrade to a TSD (Touch screen display) with Navigation. I am wondering if you had the equivalent PDF file for the D4. It would show me the parts that I need to be looking for. At the moment I Know I would need a TSD, GPS Antenna, Navigation computer and a new Head Unit. I may also need to acquire some cables. Not sure if I would need to replace the amp as I believe ther to be an amp under the driver’s seat. Don't know if it is the right type though. Your thoughts on this would be appreciated. I know that I probably will need to engage the services of someone like your good self with a MSV2 to activate a number of components. What do you think?

I have what your looking for here http://www.disco3.co.uk/gallery/albums/use...tion~6.pdf
Hope it helps
Hi Wiggs,
Thank you very much for the PDF file! It helps a lot. Now, I need to find an aftermarket GPS module that support GVIF video output to the TSD directly (if there is one on the market!).

Hi barkiny,
You are one big step closer to make it work if you have already had the GVIF interface on hand. All you need is a standard aftermarket GPS module with RCA video output.
With all the necessary items on hand, I'm 99% confident that I can make it work.

Hi wafer,
I just checked with www.coolasia.net which believes it is possible and we can get even touch screen active with my GVIF and
cabox 9100r GPS module they are selling...
check this out:
http://www.coolasia.net/navi/products/cabox-9100R.html
I will report back when I finish the installation (provided budget is approved by my better half..)

Hi barkiny,
With the GVIF interface, you're ready. How much do they quote you on Carbox-9100R?

it didnt. They couldnt figure out touch screen compatibility. They are succesfully implementing this one on Freelanders which they say they have cables made in Taiwan but they failed on my Disco3.
Yes I can connect Garmin via GVIF but without touch screen via a remote control... I dont want that...
